I wanted to find out where someone I knew lived, so I look it up in the directory. When i was looking for the address, all I saw was "PO Box (with some numbers)" What does that mean? And if I type in directions for this person's house, do I type in the "PO Box (with some numbers)"?

Post Office Box.

It's a mailbox at the post office (they pay to have their mail sent to the post office instead of their house).

It's not their house address, it's their mailing address, so it probably won't help you find directions. Sorry.

Hope this helps :)

A P.O. Box is a Post Office Box. It means that they don't really want people to know exactly where they live (or they get so much mail that it won't fit into a mailbox), so their mail is delivered to a box at the Post Office and they pick it up there. You will not get directions to their house based upon the post office box number.

One word of caution. I'm an attorney and often have to send mail to inmates at our local jail. At least in our city, such mail gets addressed to the individual at a post office box in a particular zip code. There is no mention of the fact that this person is a jail inmate on the address. I don't know why you were looking up an individual's address, but if it was because you have been corresponding with this individual, beware!!!

PO Box####=Post Office Box ####
No, you do not type in PO Box (with some numbers). This is just for the person to come pick up their mail at the Post Office. You can rent a mailbox there and have your mail sent there.

Yes, through the regular mail. If it is too big for the po box, they will put a slip in the box to let the owner know to pick it up at the counter. UPS and other delivery services will not deliver anything to po boxes, though.

A Post Office Box is like a mail box, but you have to drive to the post office to get the mail. If you are trying to get directions you might try their street adress. If you are going to send them a letter use the PO Box adress.

P.O. box is a post office mail box. I don't think it gives directions to the house.

it is a post office box..you pick up mail at the post office, not at home...here we dont have home delivery so we go to the post office to get our mail, some people do it, to insure no one steals mail others so people cant find where they live
