Well, just depending on how many cups, here's an example:
(I typically make 4 cups & cook it everyday & maybe even twice depending on what we're eating throughout the day. We're a naturally born rice eating family!!)
3 or 4 cups of rice
Wash out starch (about 3x) using warm water - The starch causes your rice to foam and become very sticky especially if too much water is added. Water will be white at first but will become a little clearer after rinsing of rice. (Does not have to be clear!)
Fill water up just until it reaches the first line on your pinky finger. (Meaning, pinky will be tip down atop rice. Use tip of finger not nail.)
Once cooked, let sit before opening, about 5-10 minutes so the steam can settle leaving the rice thoroughly and evenly cooked!!
Enjoy!!
P.S. Cooking rice is not at all hard, you just have to make sure that most of the starch is removed and adding just enough water to avoid mushy, sticky, over & under-cooked rice. The instructions provided are not hard to comprehend, it's just detailed for your convenience!!

first quit buying the box stuff is just not right and not good, plus making rice from scratch is he easiest thing...
** buy rice by the grain; medium or large are the best kind to be fluffy and yummy.
once you get the good stuff follow this steps and you are on your way to perfect rice.
* for each 1 cup of rice
* use 1.5 to 2 cups of water
* salt to taste (1/2 tsp)
* 1 tbsp. of olive or veggie oil
*** put the water to boil on med-high flame w/ salt & oil, once is boiling add the rice ( rince first under running cool water until the water comes out clear ) and stir. Let the water boil out and then stir one more time really good, lower the flame to low / med-low flame cover the pot and forget about it for 20 minutes, don't pick it will ruin it... You'll know the rice is ready cause you'll be able to smell it, then uncover and stir with a fork, his way it will separate the grains and it will be fluffy and yummy... After a couple times you've done this it will get so easy

it's quite simple. put the water in a pan, bring to a boil, add rice, cover, turn heat to low, simmer (15-20 minutes, deleding on the rice). DO NOT uncover it, shake it, or stir it at all until the time is up.
1. Rinse the rice in water to get rid of excess starch.
2. For every cup of rice, add 1 1/2 cups water.
3. Bring the rice to boil, uncovered, at medium heat.
4. When boiling, turn the heat down to medium low.
5. Place the lid on the pot, keeping it tilted to allow steam to escape.
6. When you can see holes or "craters" in the rice, put the lid on tight.
7.Turn the heat to low.
8. Simmer for another 15 minutes.
9. Fluff up rice and serve.
Tips:
For best results, use long grain rice.
For a bit of variety, try one of the scented rices, such as jasmine. The amount of the water required and the cooking time will be less than for other types of long grain rice.
If you still need a bit of help, here are easy step by step photo instructions on how to cook rice.

If it's basmati rice, boil the pot of water first, then add the rice and cook for 10 minutes, then tip into a strainer and leave it to stand for 2 minutes, then fluff up with a fork. I do it this way but not sure on other rice varieties, they all are different. Basmati rice is lower GI than other white rice and it's long grain, perfect for curries.

Follow this recipe exactly, Don't stir the rice or it will become mushy, (stirring produces the creamy texture of risotto) and good luck
PERFECT RICE
2 c. water
1 c. rice (regular)
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. oil or butter
Bring water to boil in saucepan. Add salt and oil. After water boils again, add rice and stir well. When water returns to boil; cover with a tight-fitting lid, reduce heat to low or simmer and cook 8-10 minutes. Do not lift lid! The closed lid is the secret to perfect rice. At end of 8-10 minutes, turn off heat, but leave rice standing for another 8-10 minutes before opening lid.

Start with a pot with a tight fitting lid. Boil water (two cups for every one cup of dry rice). Add rice, stir (you can add salt and butter if you want). Put the lid on. Turn down the heat, and cook for 15 minutes. Take the lid off,and fluff the rice with a fork. Eat.

I like to use 1.5 cups of water for every cup of rice. I found that any more water than 1.5 cups per cup of rice makes the rice soggy.
Bring the water to boil, add the rice and cover.
When it comes to boil again, turn it down to simmer and let it cook 30 minutes.

not at all. It's our staple, we cook rice EVERYDAY. If it's a new packet, watch the quantity of water you use, then adjust it accordingly the next time you cook. I could cook this successfully since the time I was 12 y/o
