how do you turn the paper so that your words are sideways instead of up and down?

this is using microsoft word

When you print, you might also select landscape orientation, instead of portrait..

You will have to put the text in a table cell or a text box.
Then, select the cell or text box, click Format, click Text Direction.

The easiest thing to do is add a "Text Direction" button to your toolbar:

Tools, Customize, Format, then look for the "Text Direction" button.
