And no, you don't have to be spiritual at all to answer this question. I'm really just asking is there a song that you think really fits you, your life, etc... Any song that really speaks to you?

For me, it'd have to be "Changes in Latitude, Changes in Attitude" by Jimmy Buffet.

Poison~Give Me Something to Believe In

Will I see him on the tv
Preachin bout the promised land
He tells me to believe in jesus
And steals the money from my hand

Some say he was a good man
But lord I think he sinned, yeah
Twenty-two years of mental tears
Cries a suicidal vietnam vet
Who fought a losing war on a foreign shore
To find his country didnt want him back

Their bullets took his best friend in saigon
Our lawyers took his wife and kids, no regrets
In a time I dont remember
In a war he cant forget
He cried forgive me for what Ive done there
Cause I never meant the things I did

And give me something to believe in
If theres a lord above
And give me something to believe in
Oh, lord arise

My best friend died a lonely man
In some palm springs hotel room
I got the call last christmas eve
And they told me the news

I tried all night not to break down and cry
As the tears rolled down my face
I felt so cold and empty
Like a lost soul out of place
And the mirror, mirror on the wall
Sees my smile it fades again

Sometimes I wish to God I didnt know now
The things I didnt know then
Road you gotta take me home

I drive by the homeless sleeping on a cold dark street
Like bodies in an open grave
Underneath the broken old neon sign
That used to read jesus saves

A mile away live the rich folks
And I see how theyre living it up
While the poor they eat from hand to mouth
The rich is drinkin from a golden cup
And it just makes me wonder
Why so many lose, so few win

You take the high road
And Ill take the low road
Sometimes I wish to God I didnt know now
The things I didnt know then
And give me something to believe in

The songs that I croon give me perfect satisfaction. My singing is mostly in Hindi, which is the spoken language in India. Among the English songs, ' every thing I do, I do it for you' is a popular number in India. Nirvana songs are also very popular.

When I go on my sunday mass, we sing in chorus the hymns, which are written by saints. They are often so touching that most of the participants can not cotrol their emotions and cry with lot of passion. It is said that the more you cry in the spiritual world, the faster you move to your destination.

I am on a fast track.

This...

Dear God - XTC

Dear God, hope you got the letter, and...
I pray you can make it better down here.
I don't mean a big reduction in the price of beer
but all the people that you made in your image,
see them starving on their feet
'cause they don't get enough to eat from God,
I can't believe in you

Dear God, sorry to disturb you, but...
I feel that I should be heard loud and clear.
We all need a big reduction in amount of tears
and all the people that you made in your image,
see them fighting in the street
'cause they can't make opinions meet about God,
I can't believe in you

Did you make disease, and the diamond blue?
Did you make mankind after we made you? And the devil too!

Dear God, don't know if you noticed, but...
your name is on a lot of quotes in this book,
and us crazy humans wrote it, you should take a look,
and all the people that you made in your image
still believing that junk is true.
Well I know it ain't, and so do you, dear God,
I can't believe in
I don't believe in

I won't believe in heaven and hell.
No saints, no sinners, no devil as well.
No pearly gates, no thorny crown.
You're always letting us humans down.
The wars you bring, the babes you drown.
Those lost at sea and never found,
and it's the same the whole world 'round.
The hurt I see helps to compound
that Father, Son and Holy Ghost
is just somebody's unholy hoax,
and if you're up there you'd perceive
that my heart's here upon my sleeve.
If there's one thing I don't believe in

it's you...

Dear God.

Funny enough, the song has always gotten me, 20 years now, and I've only been an atheist for 6 or so years...

When the Rain Comes - Third Day.

It is a Christian song, but I sing it to my daughter all the time because it fits the love I have for her like it fits the love that God has for all his children.

Chorus:
I can't stop the rain
From falling down on you again
I can't stop the rain
But I will hold you
Til it goes away.

The Beatles "Black poultry" even though it exchange into additionally a universal for Charles Manson. My sense of this song is to pass by discomfort, studying and a sparkling rebirth, a sparkling direction. Being section close by, the close by American Indian, or as we in Canada call them "First countries" see the blackbird/Raven/Crow as no longer a harbinger of dying yet because of the fact the form shifter, mischievous spirit, speedy wit and intelligence.

Bruce Cockburn - If I had a rocket launcher

Specially the live version, sung in total anger of all the horrors caused by awful wars. It's a horrible, beautiful, emotional, sad, hopeful, hopeless song.

Give me Jesus...by Jeremy Camp. I have abandoned much of the things I though were important and the life I live is very simple. I don't need or desire much in material possessions. Well just listen to the song. It is me.

Hmmm, maybe "18 Wheeler" by Pink? (depends on my mood)

"Lead me Into Life Eternal" is also one that springs immediately to mind (http://www.lds.org/cm/showsong/1,18647,5282-1-1-45-%20,00.html )

I've never heard of that song by Jimmy Buffet. Have you got a link?
