in other words am saying for example i put songs in to my ipod from i tunes i dont have to pay for nothing??

The program itself is free. You can use it to load songs to your ipod. These can be songs you rip from your own CDs or you get from your friends.
However, if you want to download songs from the iTunes store, then usually you have to pay.

its free to like get it to your cp and download cds and stuff like that. But you have to pay 1$ to buy a song on the Itunes store.

itune is not free it cost exactly .99 cents per song you can also buy whole albums for various prices they is however one or two songs called "song of the week" that are free for that week although most of the time they are from artist that are not that famous but there are some good songs on the "song of the week"

there are weekly free songs to download- usually a new artist.
