Sometimes, mostly at night, our cat does this weair thing where her back gets fluffy and she starts jumping towards us sideways! Its hard to describe.... her eyes get really big and she stares at us while doing it! She looks like a demon cat when she does it! Its a bit freaky but funny all the same.

Does anyone elses cat do this??

You said freaky, soooo.........
Cats are believed to be able to see the dead, ( yes I did mean freaky). Many people in the dark ages would have taken that as a sign your home is possessed, that the feline was seeing ghosts. Do I believe it?? Probably not, but it would explain the demon cat look anyways. Just have fun with it!

She only *looks* possessed?

I'm pretty sure my cat is mainly evil. Whether that's possession or just her own wicked nature, I'm not sure.

As John Constantine says, "Cats are good. Half in, half out..."

I feel like a fool sometimes, but I love that evil little girl. Maybe it's like when animals sense a pending earthquake and they act all crazy--it could be that kitties are sensitive to forces that we're just too out of touch to perceive.

Or maybe it's just the Midnight Crazies. My cat tends to run around and around and around...stopping occasionally to pounce at phantom objects. Maybe they're rehearsing for something real.

My cat arches his back and run sideways with his eyes bugging out. This is often followed by funny meows. It's just hyperness. They get really excited when playing.

Sounds like she gets a reaction from it so when she wants attention, she does it. Heaven knows what's in a cat's mind when it wants to play. Our cats like to perch someplace high (stairwell banister, mostly) and drop down on their "prey". It makes their day.

My cat doesn't do this.. it is a strange thing. Maybe it's her way of telling you she wants some more attention! Just go with it.. if she starts attacking you then I would start to worry.

Cats do all kind of zany things and that's what gives them their "mystery" She is probably only playing and doesn't realize she looks like "catzilla" Just let her go and enjoy the show!

That is hilarious. This is totally normal. They are showing their dominance. Whether it's for real or play I can't say but my kitten does it with one of my older cats all the time when they are playing.

They see what we can't see and react.
Not possesed,just a cat with X-ray vision.
