Generally it's a warning, but if your neighbor is nosey, better watch out! [1]
[1] Refer to an earlier question where someone's cat howled and shook its head while eating, and people who answered wanted the neighbor to call the Animal Cops on the neighbor -- after, I might add, the cat had been exhibiting the screeching behavior for about a YEAR! Man, if that cat was doing that for a year and was still alive, I highly doubt it was in pain, or suffering greatly. Busybodies!

my cat had kittens and when they were starting cat food the babies would kinda meow-meow-meow while they chewed. i think my mom said they are telling the other cats to go away. maybe you can feed the meowing ca tin a different place to stop him from being worried someone is gonna take his food!

get him some good food . lol cat 's thy are like you an i .i do this you do that .you know what i am saying .some go mm win thy eat.i do not think it is the food or a other cat is near.i thing it is the way the cat is..nuts .lol.like my cat he is nut Win he go too the bath room he runs all over the house . like he win at bingo or some thing.. it is funny..good luck

is he meowing and twitching his head from side to side it may mean he has ulcers in his mouth and it is very painful for them to eat i have a cat with gingivitis and does the same thing when his gums are inflamed and he has ulcerated gums it burns when he eats

he may have teeth problems. sit it on your lap and look in his mouth for red gums. it so take him to a vet imeditly.
