Since the US military insists on deploying thousands of troops to search for kidnap victims does it make sense for the terrorists to kidnap as many Americans and allies as possible?
Isn't that the message?.

New? Nah that's 20th century stuff. Need I remind you of the Iranian Embassy Hostages or all of the Beirut hostages in 1980's?

Hunting down the terrorists who commit these crimes makes it less profitable to them. When you get a brigade or more of angry soldiers looking for a few people that may not have been noticed otherwise, it has a tendency to cause a little apprehension.

The Brits in particular presented a serious deterrent to kidnappings in Sierra Leone when they decimated the "West Side Boys." That's probably part of the reason Iran gave back their soldiers so quickly.

Sorta like shooting a police officer. It's a good way to get a bunch of gun toting angry men coming after you personally.

The insurgents have been kidnapping Iraqi citizens since the beginning of the conflict. The ransom money pays for their insurgency. I would think the U.S. troops would be finding a lot of insurgents while looking for missing troops as long as they go in all directions. It actually sounds like a better way to fight against gorilla warfare.

It seems so, especially among the British. The US tracks down it's victims and the kidnappers too. Our policy is not to negotiate with terrorists !

Well if the soldiers are half as brave as they claim to be they wouldn't be getting kidnapped. Now we see the difference between army fiction and reality.

Look what happen to the Brits now. I hope the two other U.S. soldiers are alive, and come back safe. Same goes for those Brits. God bless our troops.
