Our school district has already banned all foods/drinks which list sugar as the first ingredient. Our vending machines contain foods such as baked chips, peanut butter crackers, beef jerky, granola, etc. On a positive note, I have seen an increase in the amount of students drinking water. On another note, I have also seen them come to school with junk food b/c they bring it from home. Students are going to have junk food regardless of whether the schools provide it or not. Good nutrition, as most things do, starts in the home.

No one should be allowed to make a business out of selling bad health or disease. Junk food is such. The only people it is helping are those who sell it. ANd it is costing our governments in Medical Care benefits. SO I do not think we should have junk food. So should we ban it. No Again, but the forces that be should make healthy recipes for junk food. Like Low fat pizza with all grain base. Or Low fat Burger with Full Fibre Bread and lots of veggies and no fat-rich sauces. I know this may take some time for people to really dig them, but they will finally. There should be a law about how much calories you can pack in a meal for 1. Also about soda, caffeine is not good for you kids. That is why mum does not want you to have coffee. So all P**psi and C*ke drinks are loaded with them. And full of sugar. They do nothing for your health. I would suggest we avoid them. I do.

Here is the problem with schools selling junk food. When my son was in grade school, I would give him lunch money daily, to buy a hot lunch.I found out through my sons teacher that he was buying one donut,a bag of chips, and a coke everyday instead of a hot meal. The sugar from the donut, and coke caused him to be hyper in class, not only that, he was not getting proper nutrition.I am 35, I do not ever remember junk food being sold in school when I was a child.I think it is wrong.

No, because junk food will either make you sleepy if it has a lot of fat, or hyper and then sleepy if it has a lot of sugar. Snacks should be of a sort that doesn't mess you around, like granola bars, whole-grain baked chips, fresh fruit, or crackers and cheese.
Save the junk food for when you have time to mess around and enjoy it.

After watching 'Supersize Me', and seeing the horrible foods that kids are consuming in schools across the country, I'm convinced that junk food be banned.
However, good health begins and ends in the home. Parents need to take control of their childrens' lives. Too often, MTV, commericals, and video games control their kids.

No, I think junk food should not be allowed to be sold at schools. It may harm another being. At a place of education, I believe that there should be set examples. There are many thrifty (and thriftier) alternatives than junk food (chips, candies, sodas, etcetera).

No way. The obesity level in children is way too high! If it is not sold then kids will have to buy healthier foods or pack a lunch. Too many schools are getting financial kick-backs at the expense of children's health! There are healthy and appetizing ways to make a meal that will help our kids to be healthier and more alert!!

No, because then the temptation will be there and therefore there'd be no choice but to eat unhealthy or starve..and both those options are horrible.
they should sell more fruits and veggies and healthy meals. my school ONLY carries apples..everything else is fattening. im stuck with an apple and some juice every day for lunch because i refuse to eat the CRAP they sell, it horrible and ruining my metabolism since i dont get a good enough lunch at school.

No, I go to junior high and when I get pizza and fries it affects my learning and physical strength. It also makes my stomach upset. We should not serve junk food.
