Best way although slowest is to switch set off at wall socket and leave off for 10 mins then switch an again, this forces the sets auto degauss to operate , you may need to repeat this maybe 3 to 4 times to get full effect.

The correct term is degauss. Many newer sets have a built in degauss feature accessible though the on screen menu. If yours does not, I recommend taking it to a professional. If you don't know what you are doing, you could ruin the TV set.
