Having no pain is a false indicator, you do not want to wait until a cavity gives you pain, that is a sure sign that the cavity has gone too far and is into the pulp which would require a root canal or extraction. Being that this is practically June, waiting one month is not unheard of, but it may not be taken care of at that July visit if you are scheduled with a hygienist. What you should do instead is call your dentist and explain that a filling is out, when can I come in, I am not in any pain? You will have more time to work with and scheduling will be easier for you and his office.

There's a reason why the filling fell out! With my experiences, recurring decay or depending on how big it is,the tooth might need a crown.hopefully in your case, just an old filling that simply need replacing, and make that appointment soon.

I'd call the dentist to be sure. Personally, if it wasn't hurting, I'd just wait, but I'm not qualified to say that that's best. I don't think it'd be that big a deal to wait a month if it doesn't start hurting, but I'd call the dentist and see what they suggest. You know, they have a product called "Temporin" and you can use it to temporarily fill a cavity until you can get to a dentist. They have it at WalMart.

No...you need to take care of this ASAP. Now you have a major hole in your tooth where bacteria can grow. If your tooth gets infected you may lose your tooth. Trust me, you don't want to let it get to that point.
