What sort of things would you say?

Just say that it doesn't feel like the two of you are clicking. Or the attraction just wasn't there on your side. And would he mind too much if you didn't go out again?

(I don't know if that let's a person down easy or not.)

Depends on how the first date went. If the first date went okay but there's just no chemistry, you should tell that person in a nice way, but if the first date was a total disaster, then you should tell them straight up. If they are calling and wanting to set up another date, you don't have to call them back. They will get the message sooner or later.

YES, absoluetly. If you didn't really enjoy the date the first time around it will be senseless to try and do it a second time. If it's a nice person let them down easy. Just don't make yourself suffer throught another date if you really didn't like him to begin with.

if a girl didn't want a second date, she'd probably say she's busy or if she's not that into you, she'll probably tell you she values you more as a friend than a boyfriend.
hope this helps.

I would let him down easy...Tell him something so that he wouldn't feel bad.
