Redbull is a very popular though much maligned soft drink that contains Taurine and glucuronolactone *see below*, b-complex vitamins, caffeine and sugars.
Taurine is an amino acid found naturally in mother's milk. Studies have shown that Taurine plays a significant role in brain and retinal development.and is found in meat and fish. There are very few studies of taurine supplementation in healthy subjects. Some companies claim taurine to enhance the effects of caffeine, but there has not been any studies performed so far that can confirm this statement. Glucuronolactone is a compound that is formed in the liver when glucose is metabolized. It's supposed to stimulate the basal metabolic rate, but there's no scientific] evidence to support this. I've seen repeated rumors to the effect that Redbull has been banned in this country or that country, dont believe it, again this is a SOFT DRINK, the only relevant ingredient that might be controlled in any country is the caffeine.

Nope no alcohol. One, it would have to be labeled as such, and two, it would not be sold to minors. Also, I remember running a 5k in my hometown and Red Bull was given to us all after the race (along with water and bananas) as a promotional deal. Red Bull was new and I had asked the sales rep if it had alcohol and she said no and read some of the ingredients in it. It's basically a sugary over caffinated beverage. When it "gives you wings" it means that it's an energy booster...because of all the caffeine.

No, Red Bull is just an energy drink with a ridiculous amount of caffeine. Though many people do mix it with vodka for a weird combo of downer plus a pick me up, I've been told it's good.. I don't know from personal experience.
