It must have been a pretty big ship.

I look forward to seeing Steven Carrell re-live this scenario in Evan Almighty!

There are two questions to ask:

* How many types of animals did Noah need to take?
* Was the ark large enough to hold all the required animals?

God did not have to fit every species on the Ark. He had to fit two of every kind. Woodmorappe has suggested about 8,000 kinds—including extinct kinds—in his very detailed work, Noah’s Ark: A Feasibility Study. Therefore the Ark would have contained about 16,000 animals (there are not many clean animals, of which Noah required seven pairs).

How big was this ark?

The Ark was truly enormous - 437ft x 73ft x 44ft - larger than a Boeing 747 and able to easily accommodate large dinosaurs

Woodmorappe shows that the average size of the animals on the Ark could have been that of a sheep. Many animals, including dinosaurs, were rat-sized. Even considering the very large sauropods, there would still have been room, especially considering that the oldest and largest animals would likely not have been chosen for the Ark—smaller, younger, more fertile animals would have been preferred. It is clear from the picture that there was plenty of room for 16,000 sheep!

Well, that's a nice take on the flood story, but misses the point. The "earth", as it is used throughout the Old Testament, refers to the land where the people lived. Since that area did not cover the entire earth, then the only species that Noah would have brought onto the ark would have been the animals that lived in the region. Except the stupid and playful unicorns, of course.

The Bible is plenty of proof, first off. Secondly, if you check out most other acient religions, they will have a story of a world wide flood. I totally agree that God can do anything. He brought Jesus back to life, I have heard testimonies of many awesome miracles. Every little thing God does are considered miracles. God has helped me in every way. What more can I ask? He's saved my soul.

Because you are an admitted atheist, you would not understand the power of God. Then if is not the bible that they would believe; what would you have them believe? Scientist believe the bible and other people of renown. They use the bible as history and it has never been pr oven wrong.

It is the Word of God. Even you admit it by quoting it, and dismissing it. It is the Word of God because it can not be disproving.

And God indeed can do any and everything. Praise God!

When you were a "Christian" did you actually read the bible? or listen to what people told youa bout it? The bible gives quite a large description of how big the boat was, and for one, he didnt take the water creatures.. so take off a bunch of your 4mill there, 2nd many of the creatures today are very close in resemblence to others so they most loikely coulda just mated.. and come up with a mix, i mean its not like Noah took a one of each kind of modern day dog, they probably originated from a few distinct ones

to answer your main question: with great difficulty, it is an allegorical story, try not to move your lips when you read such big words, repeat please "allegorical, allegorical..." good...
the proof of god, OK, when you see a building do you doubt that there was an architect who designed it ? no , you do not, the building *is* the proof there was an architect even if you have never seen him... when you look at a universe do you doubt that there was an architect who designed it ? if you do why ?

don't you get tired of bashing Christians, please, oh please pick on Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, please...
the reason you pick on christians is because prejudice against them is the last acceptable form of biggotry in our society, you must be a really small human being...

The Noah story is a myth like the entire Bible. It is nothing but a rehash of an old Babylonian myth called the "Epic of Gilgamesh."

The simple answer is that he couldn't.

But the Bible is filled with inconsistencies, mistakes, and things that just don't make sense. Just ask why dinosaurs are not talked about in the Bible for some examples of just how delusional Christians really are.

And then when they are done explaining how the Bible does talk about "behemoths" (aka elephants) and "levithans" (aka whales)ask them how the dinosaurs alone could fit on the Ark. =)
