While it is true that each are a temple of the Holy Spirit, Christianity is not a spectator sport.
Christianity (among other things) requires that you:
+ Worship your creator
+ Develop your relationship with God
+ Help build up the Church, the Body of Christ, the Communion of Saints, the family of believers
Regular attendance and participation in your Church's services can help you reach these goals.
You also obey the Commandment to "keep holy the Lord's day" by going to church on Sundays.

Yes, we are God's temple. You shouldn't go around tearing down people. We go to church to learn more about God, also to have fellowship with other Christians. Just like being on a team. You can say you're on a team, but if you don't go to practice and actually practice, you'r technically on a "team" but you don't play.

You obviously missed reading all of the bible, where God encourages people to come together and have fellowship.
The fact our bodies are God's temples is referring to taking care of our bodies as it houses God's Holy Spirit.
