That way we wouldn't have to keep rotating troops so quickly or extending their stays. I think a 13 year old can fire a gun just as easily as a 18 year old.

What are you a moron then were no better than the people were fighting who get little kids to fight while people like you just sit and watch also I really don't think that the army wants 13 year olds running around with M16's and driving tanks and the usual load gear for a soldier is about 80-190 lbs thats as much as the kid weighs!

i think the age to join the military and the voting age should always coincide. this is for two reasons:

1) if you are putting your life on the line for your country, you should be able to participate in its democratic process. i mean seriously, if you're in a position to make the ultimate sacrifice, you should at least be given the right to vote.

2) the voting age is that age at which our nation has decided you're critical thinking and decision making skills are fully developed. if you're going to be the front line for your country, you better be making the right decisions.

in reference to 13 year olds specifically, they may be able to shoot as well, but there's no way they would be able to keep their cool in a combat situation as well as an 18 year old. not to mention, they're still hitting puberty. talk about a dysfunctional army..

puckin ridiculous, you can join the military at 17, but you cant legally drink nor enter a Casino til 21. Is your child thinking of joining? Is he turning/turned 13, are you going to enlist your pride & joy! Please. Why dont you think about education or better medicare for 13 year old than pre adolescent fighting in wars dumbkopf! Can you imagine a 13 yr old getting filled with bullet holes and blowing up to pieced, dieying for something they arent aware about. Pendejo!

Sure, then we can lower the voting age to 13 as well and they can vote in President Justin Timberlake, Vice President 50 Cent and Treasurer Paris Hilton..

Get real. A 13 year old is not an adult. I wouldn't trust one babysitting my child much less shooting a gun.

That's a pretty good idea! The insurgents are strapping bombs to 10 year olds and making them run towards innocent people. We should fight fire with fire! And we would only have to pay them in video games and candy. Plus they're too young to get PTD.

Ar thirteen, you must feel like the cock of the walk. You can do damned near anything, hell, I'd bet you can even drive a car, well almost. Youngster, you may not realize it, but you have a whole lot more to learn before we're ready to unleash you on the enemy. Just be patient, you'll get your turn !

this is a retarted question a 13 year old hasnt even reached puberty and are not mature enough to deal with the war. i do think that 18 year olds should be able to drink considering that they can serve our country and die for it.

There are 8 year olds that can fire a gun. Do you think we should enlist them also?

Yes. 13 year old juvenile offenders. While we're at it, let's throw all inmates in the sand box and watch them get blown to pieces by roadside bombs. At least they won't be a burden to taxpayers anymore.
