I always cut the sausages up in big chunks and put them in with the sauerkraut, then heat them together on the stove or on Low in the crockpot. The two flavors blend together and complement each other nicely.
Sometimes I also add a tablespoon of sugar, some caraway seeds, and a few slices of peeled apple to the kraut, along with the sausage. Again, the flavors work very nicely.

If you cook it with the sausages, you get all that good sausage love in the kraut...if you leave it cold, well, I love kraut, so either way is good! But the first way's better!

Cook them together--the kraut will add a terrific taste to the sausages!

Actually, it depends on the person or the culture. Germans always eat their kraut cold, but Americans, such as myself LOVE IT HOT WITH MY DOG!!! It's really a personal taste of temperature.

Sauerkraut can be eaten warm or cold. Depends upone what you like.
I, personally, think "Why mess up perfectly good sausages by adding sauerkraut"?
