Most states allow defensive driving to offset and not refect a ticket on your record. When you go to court or in most cases before you can ask to take the class. But DO NOT take the class unless you have permission or you get to do it again..now, if that speeding was in a construction zone or school zone..you will not be able to take the class.

For info, call the state police. By the way, in some states you can only do it once.
