Our actions or our intentions? What do you think of this quote?

Without love, deeds, even the most brilliant, count as nothing.

St. Therese of the Child Jesus, also called the Little Flower.

I believe placing ones constant attention on God is pleasing. I agree with the quote. Feelings come to us, passively; love comes from us, actively, by our free choice. Love is the object of all spirituality.

Both intention and action has a responsible play. It's 50-50. But it both must be centered on God. This is what separated the saints from everyone else. Their sacrifices and actions were centered on God. St. Francis of Assisi for example.

The love you feel for someone should be God's love. The compassion should be God's compassion. This way you avoid being mere humanistic about it and getting only partial points.

Do your actions with God's love and reap all it!

(Aaargh! I can't believe I'm saying this! You have such a way of deflating me! I'm going back out to left field.)

1 Cor. 13 speaks about this very same thing- without love, all the service we render will be in vain.
Also God says, obedience is better than sacrifice. What pleases God the most is a heart that obeys, and gives out of the abundance of love received from Him. GREAT question.

I've always said God would rather you gave the penny you worked for than the million you were given for free. Every amount of time, money or prayer should be given out of our need not what we can spare to loose. What pleases God is when when give out of our heart.

Money doesn't have anything to do with it...Its the other things, deeds, love, attention and prayer that count most to God.

I think god pays attentions to our actions verses our money more. In the end, I don't think its going to be the money that counts. I know so many people who volunteer their time and talents who come from low income families. And they just don't have the money to give to the church. But what they do give - in their sweat, time, heart, and soul, just means so much more.

Well, think of Mary and Martha. Martha, the hard working woman and Mary, who instead wanted to spent time with Jesus when He visited with them. What pleases God is when we have a relationship with Him in prayer and worship. It pleases Him to see our heart open so that we can radiate His love onto others.

Actions. It is better to give money to a good purpose than intend to do it.

That is the same message as in 1 Cor 13. I like that place in the Bible. : )

i should imagine that the thing you do as long as it is done with the very best intentions and is the absolute best that you can do whether physical or mental then God will be pleased - and most things done with the best intent surely do come from love.
