That means a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship (exclusive dating) and on a more serious note marriage. Know what you mean though, I don't plan on marrying for a long while

Shouldn't commitment mean the same thing to just about everyone, though not everyone always can committ to its meaning. It does sound scary and it is usually just an individual things. When you are ready you will know it. If you are with someone and say you've been with them for 2 months, isn't that a relationship? As long as you put forth the effort to be with someone you are creating a relationship. If you are thinking in terms of not being with someone else other than the person you are with right now, then you might just need to step back before you hurt someone else's feelings as well as your own.

Why, is someone you're involved with asking for commitment? It would mean you're not looking elsewhere and neither is your girlfriend. Sure, it's a little scary because the question is, where's it all going to end up? Marriage? Not ready. Breakup? About what? It's scary to think you're on one track and you have to think about how to get off that track gracefully.
Don't be in a hurry but when you want to make a commitment to your girlfriend, and she to you, it will feel good because it will relieve some feelings of anxiety about losing her to someone else.

I know for an eighteen year old commitment can sound like a scary word, you're thinking I don't want to be tied down, what exactly does she want and what does it entitle. Comitment can mean simply that she wants to go out with you exclusively or it can mean she wants you to commit yourself to her emotionaly and physically. Commitment can sound scary but it can also be a wonderful experience, that is if you're ready for it. If commitment is something you really don't want you should'nt push yourself into it... take it slow there'll be plenty of time for commitment.

it is scary hahaha

What it means is that she's the only one you've got eyes for. It means you have to work at the relationship to keep it going. It means you have to be there for her and prove yourself trustworthy. It means your like one step below engaged but a couple of steps above best friends.

Don't get into something you're not ready for. If you're ready to commit, go ahead. If not, don't break her heart by starting something you can't finish.

At age 18 it means that you're not dating other people, and that you have a "relationship" with each other. This means that you tell her where you're going, you introduce her to your friends, you respect her opinions, and she reciprocates.

It means that you discuss things with her if there are problems, and that you try to work things out.

It doesn't mean that you're married, have to move in together, can't go to college in different cities, or have to pay her rent.

It's not that scary. If you work at it, it's actually pretty fun.

It means a relationship, not just friends with sex.
It means you'll invite her to go with you to a family wedding (or any occasion) ....3 months in advance.
It means not cheating on her, or thinking about cheating on her.
It means there's an emotional bond.
It means you introduce her as your girlfriend.
It means you know her friends and she knows yours.
It means that, some time in the near future, you'll probably tell each other "I love you".
It means you'll probably be each other's favourite person to spend time with.

It doesn't mean getting married or having kids or being boring.

That because you are obviously not ready for it. It means that you are going to be with her and her only, you are to be faithful and not cheat on her. You will consider her feelings ALWAYS because you are both in this relationship together. No lies! No going out with your friends and flirting with other women or even thinking of flirting with other women!

It means that you're growing up and you're ready to start a REAL relationship. That means you'll be there to enjoy the good times and you'll be there throught the rough times. And in the end, you wont regret any of the experiences.

commitment can be a number of things, not nessisaritly marrage! I would say for being 18 (I'm 19) it just means caring for someone, it doesn't even mean relationships really
