If you are worried about safety, join the Air Force (Except Pararescue or Forward Air Controller) or Navy (Except Corpman, diver or Seal).
If you are worried about your personal safety, do not join the military. All Branches of the Military are dangerous jobs.

However, don't think it is an easy job . You have lots of responsibilty and you have to learn basic military skills as well. When you separate from the service you will have a viable skill for the civilian world.
