Depending on where you live go out and look or check the net. Type in Sherman Oaks, CA employment. If nothing else maybe you can find some phone numbers and make contacts. When you do make contacts keep in touch with them and see if they have other ideas even if they aren't hiring.

It seems like you should first pick a field that you like, that fits your skills and that pays what you'd like to get.
After that, then you should pick an area where they hire people with those skills. If you pick the location first, then you might be overly restricted.
