Polygamy is still a central part of your church doctrine and whether you practice it or not it is one of the fundamentals of the LDS religion. It then carries on in heaven and good hood when you become a God yourself (sorry I am trying not to laugh at this because it is so ridiculous) you have many wives and create spirit children for your own little planets.

Because some mormons still do practice polygamy. There was a special on 20/20 about 2-3 months ago that had a family/town that were proclaimed mormons and they talked openly about the subject admitting that they had many wives. They get away with it by only marrying one of them and the others are just there, sister wives is what they call themselves. I am sure that not all mormons practice this, but there are still some out there that do.

I've heard non-members say that, but never someone who was once a member of the church. Why would someone want to make up lies about a church? I mean if it was so bad, wouldn't they have true facts to use? I don't think any educated person belives our church practices polygamy.

I'm not sure.....I always get that at school though. They think that I have LOTS of dad because I'm a Mormon....Its not true. We do NOT Practice Polygamy anymore. I'm glad to be a Mormon...No matter what anyone thinks.

Any religion that believes it is essential for their salvation and believe that it will be restored to the Earth, will still have the side effects of Polygamy in their religious structure, like the sexist opinions of women, women having too many children, women being weaker then men and men always being the head and women being the tale. Men also think that they are God's and therefore they can do no worng in their decision making, in the church. Sounds like polygamy to me.

It's a big button, and fun to push. In actuality, the doctrine remains valid even if the practice has been discontinued. You know as well as I that the morg is waiting for it to be 'reinstalled' so they can live the new and everlasting covenant to it's fullest.
Check out your Doctrine of Covenants and see if Section 132 is missing or deleted. Plus, most members have polygamous ancestors: Grandparent, great grand parents. Its as part of you as the Word of Wisdom.
Get used to it. Jews are still accused of "Killing Christ" despite the papal apology, so your complaint by comparison, is whiny.

News reporters that don't know how to properly present some of the tiny break-away-fringe groups that do still practice it certainly don't help. They make it sound like they are part of the big, mainstream Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Yeah, I wonder that myself...also why do they insist that we worship Joseph Smith, why do they tell us what's going on inside the temple, why do they tell us that they have "irrefutable proof" that the Book of Mormon is untrue? It's odd that they are telling me what I believe.
