The covering on a poker table is felt. Inexpensive and easy to find. You can buy felt by the yard at a fabric store such as Hancock's or Joann's or at Wal Mart in the fabric dept.

There are even different thicknesses you can chose from. If it is a table you plan on using often I would go with a medium to heavy thickness.

You might even buy a can of Scotchguard and spray the felt surface after you have finished covering your table to keep spills from soaking through. Do not soak the felt, just a light spray. Then you may want to repeat a couple of times, lightly. Let it dry throughly before you use the table.

Colored Felt and if you can't get it at a fabric store, look at anywhere that sells poll/billiards tables as they use the same thing on them.
