I would personally recommend www.thailandlife.com ... I don't know how many of you have came across this guy's pages, but he's really a great writer and a great representative to the Thai people (well, through his efforts and dedication to this website).
I've watched how this guy grew up and I highly recommend this site to anybody interested to learn more about Thai people, culture and most recently, life in prison. A sort of whole and complete experience Gor has to offer.

The only advertising and commercial free website in Thailand. 1000's of actual photos, 100's of real stories with photos, FAQ, this website is like taking an actual virtual tour of Bangkok and Thailand without ever leaving your PC.
Show me another site this cool and I will check it out myself, but for right now, for actual photos and real information from people who live in Thailand, www.visualthailand.com cannot be beat.
Plus it is the easiest website to navigate around and find the information without 100 advertisements or popups.
This site lists the top places to visit in Bangkok, top day trips, best places to shop, top ten of the most favorite Thai websites, actual live weather and any live breaking news.
Visual Thailand knows where all the cools places to see and visit that the tourist companies never tell their clients.
Want a world class disco with 5000 people dancing the night away? You will learn on Visual Thailand where all the locals go and hang out.
This site, and I have no idea who it is, but I promote this as the best site ever because I can see actual photos of the things I need to see or want to do before I waste time and money to go see.
Greatest source for unbiased information in Thailand bar none.

There are some good sites talking about life in Thailand, current events, etc. But... Sorry, I can't tell you what they are or the government will probably ban them too.
But I agree with Nowhereman, the site he mentions seems to be the most popular here in North Korea --oh! I mean Thailand!
