My computer says Windows XP on the start screen, but I went to this website recently that tracks your IP and everything and it said I have Windows NT 5.1 . Some of the system files say NT as well. I am using the copy of Windows that came with my computer, which was purchased from hp around 2005 or 2006. I say they are 2 different OS and my brother says they are the same. I know for a fact my Sims Unleashed will not work on NT(It worked on my old computer that had 98 and it says it's XP compatible) and I am thinking maybe that is why it won't install on my computer, because we have NT.(The Sims 1 works fine) Who's right?

ntfs = new technology file system,

xp = WinNT 5.01.2600 - which is built on windows 2000 = WinNT 5.00.2195

both systems use the nt file system, the older systems use fat32 (file allocation table), 95/98/98se and millenium

I believe that Windows XP and Windows 2000 are actually Windows NT 5 +. They've changed the name to protect the innocent.
