WHT DO U HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS?
The Bible has a scientific test how to identify a true believer. It is mentioned in the Gospel of Mark, Ch. No.16, Verse No.17 and 18 - It says that… ‘There will be signs for true believers and among the signs - In my name they shall cast out devils, they shall speak foreign tongues, new tongues, they shall take up serpents - And if they drink deadly poison, they shall not be harmed - And when they place their hand over the sick, they shall be cured.’ This is a scientific test - In scientific terminology, it is known as the ‘confirmatory test’ for a true Christian believer.

In the past 10 years of my life, I have personally interacted with thousands of Christians, including missionaries - I have not come across a single Christian, who has passed this confirmatory test of the Bible. I have not come across a single Christian who took poison and who has not died. And in scientific terminology, this is also called as the ‘falsification test, you will fail. So a person who is not a true Christian believer, will never attempt this test.

Were you truly a Scientifically minded person, you would have read all the material available on the subject before making such a bold statement. The Same bible that states that which you have said, and it does say that; It ALSO says, "Do not test the Lord your God." What was meant in the scriptures you were Referring to, is that in the case that poison is given, or one is bitten by a serpent, through faith is God he would survive. It is not to be tested, in that, I as a Christian should not purpose to receive a Snake Bite or take in Poison just to prove my faith. in this God will not Honor me. Also, I have personally seen people healed, and Been involved in an Exorcism. Good thinking though, Keep the Thoughts rolling! But remember, Before stating something, make sure you are educated in it, you may answer your own question. :)

I say you took a quote off of an anti-Christian web sight. I could go on all day with quotes off of anti-Islamic sites as well.

But, I will bite, first off in the Book of Mark it does not say anything about that being a "Scientific test" next, it does not say that all who proclaim to be Christians HAVE to pass this test, it is showing that God will give his people blessings including Curing people, and not getting sick from eating or drinking the "Poison" (MY version does not say "Deadly"

How do you know that missionaries have not gotten sick from accidentally drinking some poison? Or do accidents not count? Do we HAVE to test our God? There is no way to know if this has happened or not. Not all have the gift of healing, some might, but it is also not a requirement to obtain the kingdom of God.

So, good try, but no dice.

Peace!

Unfortunately, that portion of chapter 16 is widely believed to be something someone else added in many years later than when it was actually written and is not really considered reliable. The verses are absent in the oldest manuscripts of Mark, including the vitally important Codices Sinaiticus and Vaticanus, which both conclude the gospel at 16:8. Vaticanus in particular displays a long blank space after 16:8, rather than ending at the base of a page as if further pages were missing.

There are far better tests anyway the primary one being deep and honest love and forgiveness within the heart.

There shall be signs <> (doesn't equal) everyone of them will do it, so it's a stretch to say it's a scientific test. Jesus certainly didn't label it as such. I've already seen two of the signs in my own life, if that helps.

An actual self-identified test you should be interested in is the one that tells us Muhammad didn't hear from the real Gabriel:

1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that [spirit] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

I do believe Muhammad met an angel, just not an angel of God.

Its not a test, its saying that christians will be able to do things like that. In other places in the New Testament (indeed it is a key principle) it indicates you need faith in God to do these kind of things. (I mean faith not in the sense of the faith to get saved initially, which is given by gift to the earnest seeker, but developed through reading the Word etc.)

They did lots of things like that in the early church (e.g Paul got bitten by a poisonous snake on Malta and the natives were amazed it didn't affect him. Miracles in Acts, references to them in, eg, Hebrews 2:4).

At various stages in church history, especially when Christ's message has come into unreached territory there have been staggering miracles and signs. Did you know that Dublin converted to christianity because St Patrick rose the King's daughter and son, who died in the same week, from the dead ?

In the UK analyse the ministries of people like Smith Wigglesworth and see that miracles sometimes happen in abundance where there is a fullness of faith.

You are just like everyone else , a person who has read one or two verses of the bible and is now an aficionado . You have to read the surrounding verses . You also need to take things into context and understand you can not question faith like that . That's not lack of faith , that's wisdom enough not to do it . Why Tempt some thing like that . If you willingly do it , you willingly die . God will protect you from the harm ( pay attention to this part ) THAT YOU DON'T COMMIT ON YOURSELF .

You make it sound like these passages refer to manadatory religious rites that must be performed to become a Christian, but that would be a fallacy. This passage simply means that there is an omnipotent being in whom all things are possible. The point is, God *can* perform any of these miracles on true believers *if* (and that word *if* is in the passage) it should be required.

I have personally seen some of these miracles come to pass, but not all of them.

I saw that test on a cowboy show when I was young.
The Indians wanted to test somebody.

Children of GOD aren't suppose to tempt GOD.
To handle a snake (for no other purpose than to prove something) or drink poison would be tempting GOD.

Now, if your on a mission FOR GOD and somebody slips you a Mickey, than that is a different story.

GOD has Mercy on whom HE wants to, I call this Extra-Mercy.
I know an Evangelist that had his car and himself and his wife Transported (like star treck) from one side of a town to another.
When they figured out what happened ( it happened instantaniously) they went back to that town, and there was a big wreck in the middle of town.
satan was trying to take this Evangelist outta here!
GOD Intervined. GOD dosen't always Intervine.
It is up to HIM.

You should notice that it says "among the signs"...It doesnt mean that every single Christian will have all of these signs...Different Christians get different spiritual gifts from our Father in Heaven. There are so many different spritual gifts that I couldnt possibly list them here.

1Co 13:8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
1Co 13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
1Co 13:10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
1Co 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
1Co 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
1Co 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

1Co 12:3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
1Co 12:4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

Just because a person dies or gets sick from poison does not mean they are not christian. you took that passage way out of context. did you ask them to speak in toungues? did you ask them to heal the sick? did you ask them to drive out demons?there are many different ways to test and see if a person is christian. the greatest way is his/her actions and words. if he acts different than the rest of the world, ask him if he is christian. if they say they are, ask them to prove it. ask him to speak in toungues. that is a devine language that we, as christians, can speak after we are touch by the holy spirit. not all christians are blessed with this gift.some are blessed with the gift of healing, some are blessed with exstreme faith, and are thus able to drive out demons and heal people left and right. i am blessed with toungues, prophecy, and an uncanny ability to tell the truth as it is at face value. creth bah noakroshaela. this means do not be unfaithful. you should see me write this stuff. that was only printing the sounds. dont be so literal.
