if people are for the sanctity of life no matter what the circumstance, are you a vegan? because the commandment isn't "thou shalt not murder" or "thou shalt not kill humans" but "Thou shalt not KILL - PERIOD!" animals have the basic emotions that humans do, they breathe, run, walk, eat, sleep, drink, hear, feel anger, pain, happiness, and most importantly, is ALIVE. so for those people who say that i am a hypocrite for "supporting" abortion under certain circumstances, i believe that you are a hypocrite for not supporting abortion at all but is eating bacon and sausages for breakfast!!! (since most people who oppose abortion cite the "Thou shalt not kill" claim........)

just to clarify, i am pro-life, but i think it depends on the circumstances, just like "manslaughter" and "self-defense" depends upon the circumstances

Before you start quoting from the Bible you need to know what is says, if you take that commandment back to Hebrew it is "Thou shalt commit no murder". As extra proof: God commanded the Hebrews to offer sacrifices of the first born male out of the flock of sheep.Murder can only be done against the innocent or outside of the authority of Government after a fair trail or a declaration of war. Man is created after the image of God, animals are not.

Sorry, i can not trust you, you look to confirm issues in black and white without gray components. inspite of the shown fact that i'm no longer for abortion, I relatively have 2 sons i like very lots and a daughter, stillborn, that I by no potential have been given to renowned and omit the hell out of, i will think of a collection of situations the place abortion could be a potential selection. I firmly have faith that a determination like this is terrific left to the mummy and dad without interference from the government. Abortion isn't in basic terms a pair of woman's determination to "unfold her legs". There are different matters which includes rape, incest, to call some. i've got faith a woman ought to enable her extensive unsleeping instruction manual her and her ideals. regardless of each little thing, she would be able to be the single to stand in front of her maker and clarify her determination.

A knowledge of Hebrew and the first five books of the Bible would help you here:

The command is NOT "Thou shalt not kill - period"

The "kill" here, means any malicious or, unjust, killing. Note that carefully - malicious!

It does not refer to capital punishment [for which two witnesses were required, Numbers 35:30] ... or war - both of which involve the defence of society from those who would willingly cause death or injury to other, innocent, people.

It encompasses malice of any kind ... Matthew 5:22

For your own interest, I am a very earnest supporter of animal care; pay 50% more to buy free range eggs; and rarely eat meat at all. No one loves animals more than I; and few will cry, as I do, at seeing instances of abuse done to them; but this is no reason to blame scripture for the cruelty of men towards animals.

Indeed, the treatment of animals is one certain method given by God, to discern the character of men:
"A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast" [Proverbs 12:10. So, in this, you certainly agree WITH the Bible.

But, however callous it may sound, the life of a child, is not the same as the life of a chicken. Now, let me say it again: I do not buy eggs, because I refuse to support the industry that uses those flat-bed trucks where the chickens are stuffed into plastic crates for transport and slaughter. But, a chicken, and a child, are not the same thing.

God created man in his own image; he did not do so with animals. That is why he commanded capital punishment [Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made man ... Genesis 9:6]

Abortion under certain circumstances? Yes, if a woman I love would die if she delivered the baby; and for her to attempt to give birth, would be certain death; I would certainly take your position with regard to the possibility of "certain circumstances".

Yes, there are circumstances! But, please! Do not try to degrade the Word of God, because of the cruelty, or abuses, of people.

Yours with kind regards,
Philip Livingstone

Animals were meant for food. People were not. Now that doesn't mean I can go out and start torturing animals just because it seems like a jolly good time. There are humane ways to slaughter animals, believe it or not. Human life begins at conception. We can eat the animals. We're just not supposed to eat/drink the blood.

Genesis 9:3 “Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs. But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.”

The commandment, "Thou Shall Not Kill" is quite general. God won't send you to Hell because you were defending your self from a rapist and only had the choice of breaking his nose or having to live with a baby for 9 months whether unmarried or not. Abortion is wrong. There are so many couples out there who cannot have a baby and although it may be a difficult decision, you should want someone that can devote to the child. If you are Catholic, Christian, it doesn't have to mean you are a vegan. Animals were given to us for food, for protein. Think back to Jesus' time, at the Passover they ate lamb, he must've approved of that, right?

Recently I really felt that I liked animals more than I like people (- especially the nasty vindictive people whom I worked with!), nonetheless I am a pro-life Christian. I hate to think about a human baby lying in a rubbish bin (!)... Animals can be unjudgemental and lovingly devoted pets, yet I also believe different species of animals were made for different purposes: e.g. cats and dogs are companion animals, but many cattle are intended for eating. God may have entrusted animals to come under man's dominion, but man should not abuse this standing by torturing and mistreating their trusting animals or 'underlings'. It says in the bible that good men treat their animals kindly - and I'd include here, humane treatment and a good quality of life, for those that are to be later sent to slaughter. The bible says we are 'worth more than many sparrows' but its not Christ-like to abuse animals, in fact cruelty inflicted towards animals can undoubtedly be considered demonic. To clarify with you, I support two great animal charities, but through reading my Bible I was also prompted to sponsor a child (one through Tearfund charity). I also heard someone say that its every first world persons' duty to sponsor a child. Ultimately, I am making my personal choice to give value to both animal and human forms of life.

I am a Christian vegetarian. The bible is not talking about eating meat, but I choose not to.All abortion, except to save the life or the mother is murder. If the mother would die in the pregnancy, the baby would die any way.

Really... vegan huh?

You do realize that even level five vegans (eat only plant matter that does not kill the plant to harvest) are still killing millions of cells?

Death is part of life. That can't be changed.

The slaughter of the unborn, that can be.

And please, don't call it the 'sanctity of life'... that has such religious overtones. It's not a religious issue, it's a moral one.

the Bible actually says, “You shall not murder”, Exodus 20:13. The Hebrew word literally means “the intentional, premeditated killing of another person with malice."
