If you can work it into the conversation (might be hard) find out how he gets along with his mother. Also could ask if he ever had a job with a female boss or how he treats the female teachers.

If he tries to control ANY of your behavior in any way. Run. There are nice boys who like their moms and think their gf's should make 50% of the decisions in a relationship.

Any kind of behavior that makes you feel uneasy, or uncomfortable. Even little things...spats of jealousy, anything that seems controlling, possessive...don't ignore your gut feelings.

A lot of girls mistake controlling, jealous behavior as a way that he's showing he cares - that's not true.

No one should tell you what to wear, who to talk to, or who to spend your time with - those are very common things that a controlling boyfriend may start out with.

Relationships need to be built on trust, maturity, and a desire to make the other person happy; with their best interests at heart. Any kind of abusive or irrational behavior should not be ignored.

I would ask him why his previous relationships failed. That is usually a good indication on his behavior. A man who is jealous, possessive, or has a short temper often times is abusive. Below is a great article to cue in on some abusive behaviors before you get involved.

If he acts possesive of you, then it would be a good hint to stay away. I mean, at first it would seem cute, but then after a while the hitting starts for any little thing. Unless you like explaining where you are going, how long you are going to be there, who is going to be there, and then getting hit if he hears something he doesn't like - I would walk away.

Good Luck to you and remember that you are beautiful with or without him telling you so.
