Agreeing with all of the above, if you are so lucky to have an Ikea near by or even a few hours away, its worth the drive! Get a catalogue and see if its your style before heading to a store.
Yard sales, church sales, craigs list and even garbage picking in college neighborhoods this time of year are also great cheap options.

Yard sales are best bet.......go early if you can, between 7 and 7:30 in the morning is the best time to find the good bargains....if you go after 8:30 or 9:00, people are willing to bargain then and you can get stuff for little or nothing.......I have waited before until a yard sale ended in the afternoon and drove back and they usually give stuff away free then ....good luck and happy hunting!
