My Dad and I have always had the issue of having very red skin on the face, nose, and around the eyes. I asked a doctor once what the problem was, and he said something about a condition called Roscea. It is supposedly when the skin is too thin in these areas, which causes the skin to look red. Has anyone heard of any treatment for this condition?

Hi Jay - I'm sorry I'm not certain if my answer will be of any help. I trained as a beauty therapist (many years ago) and one of the tricks of the trade we had when making up ladies with reddened complexions or rosacea was to use a green base foundation. This is available from Boots. Yikes, I don't know what I would do for men - unless you and your dad wear make up. There was also a 'green' powder too that was for applying after the other foundation and powder.
Perhaps you should ask your Dr.

i was told i have this too...
i did the research, spoke to a few dermatologists and here is what i found -
there is no cure, but proper treatment can help and people may not even know you have rosacea. my doctor gave me metrogel to use but there are many others as well. right now metrogel is #1 . i have used it for a few weeks and so far, i dont see much results but people say it should take longer.
stay away from spicy foods, wine, cold weather, winds, etc.
try to use mineral makeup only. i was told Bare Minerals is great. i actually just bought the starter kit so we'll see if that works. also green based makeup is good to cover up the red spots.
rosacea could be caused in any environmental changes, stress, etc .

good luck!
