Because the people that are against gay marriage think that what they think is right and the only way to see things. All of their transgressions are OK as long as they repent and they feel compassion for murderers and rapists but they think being gay is the worst thing ever.

They need to wake up and think of other peoples feelings.

Well, in most cases, couples don't know that they are infertile until they try to have a child, for one thing.
I believe that everyone is automatically guaranteed the right to marry by the American Constitution and Bill of Rights. However, our legislators have allowed their own religious biases as well as pressure from religious groups to influence them on these issues.
If everyone has equal rights, then I don't understand what the big deal is about when it comes to gays and lesbians having the right to marry. Marriage is a legal contract between two consenting adults, it shouldn't matter what sex they are.

Why are infertile people and people who don't want children allowed to marry? (I assume you mean as far as Christians are concerned). Well, the idea is that marriage is not just for procreation, it is the natural order of things as God ordained it. Woman was created as a companion for man. One function is childbirth, but that's not the only function.

There is a lot of other sin going on, but since it includes sex it's a big deal right? Well - in a sense, yes. I think I see what you're really saying here is that the sex part makes Christians focus on homosexual sex moreso than other sins. I agree with you. I think that a lot of Christians focus too much on it, and also are unwilling to contemplate God forgiving these sinners. I think the explanation is that a lot of Christians see this as one of the very volitional or purposeful sins - i.e. people know it's a sin, and want to do it anyway.

Hey Adam C, I think the point he is trying to make is that a lot of people try to justify their position against Gay marriage by saying marriage is about procreation and that a gay couple won't deliver children but neither will the infertile or those who don't want babies. Personally I think it's a very good point, and I agree. If marriage is supposed to only be about making babies then only those who can or plan to have babies should get married. However marriage is about more than just children. Marriage first and foremost, is about love. So why not let two people who love each other get married regardless of their gender. So long as they love each other their marriage will still be sanctified.

Ummm, maybe because "infertile people" are still male and female, and marriage is defined as a union between a male and a female??? Yes, there is a lot of other sin going on but those who commit such sins are not in our faces demanding that their sins be accepted as "alternative lifestyles". It is homosexuals who have made the issue a "big deal", not anyone else.

In some places, definite, they are allowed to marry. i've got faith it truly is termed a civil union/partnership for this reason. it truly is what Wikipedia says approximately it in the U. S.: * In Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Iowa, comparable-intercourse marriage is criminal and at the instant performed. * In Vermont, comparable-intercourse marriages will start up on September a million, 2009. * In Maine, comparable-intercourse marriages will start up on or around September 14, 2009, pending a achievable human beings's veto. * In New Hampshire, comparable-intercourse marriages will start up on January a million, 2010. * In California, comparable-intercourse marriages have been performed between June sixteen, 2008 and November 4, 2008. The marriages that have been performed in this era are nevertheless recognised. * In manhattan and Washington, D.C., comparable-intercourse marriages from different states are recognised yet no longer performed. And it truly is criminal in Belgium, Canada, Netherlands, Norway, South Africa, Spain, and Sweden. If performed someplace else, it truly is recognised in Aruba, Israel, and Netherlands Antilles. In some international places it truly is prohibited to additionally be LGBT- that's only what i've got heard, although =P. there are various communities in the U.S. attempting to legalize it around the states. It replaced into criminal in California, yet this replaced into replaced simply by fact of Prop 8.

Because certain people want to force their religious doctrine into the lawbooks, despite that whole First Amendment thing (not to mention the Treaty of Tripoli).

A few fun facts:
-Marriage is not solely a Christian institution.
-If marriage is going to be defined as a religious institution, then all federal incentives should be removed from it, thus leaving it to the churches.
-Leviticus is a poor model for modern values; it makes eating shellfish & wearing polyester sins equal to homosexuality, after all.
-All neutral studies have shown children of homosexual couples to be just as well-adjusted as those of straight couples, with equal percentages of heterosexual tendencies, and fewer instances of molestation.
-Homosexuals are not, according to statistics, more likely to be pedophiles than heterosexuals. In fact, the evidence points to the opposite.
-Despite many claims to the contrary, science shows that homosexuality DOES occur in nature; many species engage in it, especially when overpopulation becomes an issue.
-Homosexuals don't "choose" their sexuality, any more than heterosexuals. It's all a matter of hormones, pheremones & genes.
-The same arguments against homosexual marriage were used against interracial marriage 30 years ago.

I hope that you are at peace with those questions. Most of my Christian bretheren seem to think that whatever they won't do ( publically) means that no one else can or should.

I hope that you have the best sex life than anyone else has had in the whole existence of the Earth. And get married whenever and however you can. But I hope that the message that a Christian is a Christian because they trust God through Jesus Christ comes through loud and clear to you also. I am Bi. And I know that Jesus is the friend of sinners. And not being Gay doesn't make you sinnless. They make it so hard to bring the message to those like us who admit that we are not perfect.

Please, be at peace with yourself. I am only trying to subvert years of anti homosexual agendas that deter the true message of Peace through trust in God through Christ.

Marriage is an ancient custom, with deep roots in religion, and has always been between a man and one (sometimes more) woman. Why change a tradition that's several thousand years old just for a handful of homosexuals living in America today? Are you really that special?

Form a civil union, under some secular authority. I wouldn't care about that, but don't call it a marriage. You don't show up several thousand years too late to the party, without an invitation, and demand to be treated like honored guests.

Being gay is different from ing infertile . just like cleptomania, is a disease , being gay ios also a disease that affects human being s only.Animlas are not prone to it as the diseas does not affect them.
animals do not steal things that they do not want . if gay can be allowed and recognized why should inchest alone be condered a crime .?if that ois alo allowed why should not we be allowed to go about without clothes ?just imagie how it would be if all people are allowed to go about naked , use the car and suse the chairs and work in th eoffice also naked ? if being gay and lesbianism can be perniteted why should society restrict other personla behaviour like inchest , going naked and perfoming all sexual acts in th eopen etc .
We are not in the forest living like animals .We come a long way rom themand so we hav certain code of conduct and weveryone is bound to abide them.No one claim any individual right affecting the generl code of conudt while living in the civil society and enjoying the protectioin and security offered by the civil society. For the securith =y ahd protection offerec by the civil society , every one is bound to abide by the restictions imposed by tht societyon all the members of the society. One can not claim exemtion from that code of conduct .
