It exactly like giving a shot. It is a fairly large needle so your cat may cry out but its over with quickly. They will inject it between there shoulderblades right under the skin. I think microchipping is great especially for cats cause they run away the most and usually never keep a collar or tags on. Its a safe and easy way of identifying an animal. Just remember to fill out your regestration form and send it in, otherwise no info will come up about who's the cat beglongs to.

It's dead simple. It's just one injection under the skin in the scruff of their neck. This implants the chip (which is about the size of a grain of rice) and it stays there forever, and it can't be felt. The needle is kind of big so some cats and dogs do squeak, but many don't even notice, they're tougher than humans! If you haven't had your cat neutered yet, get the microchip done then so they can have the big needle put in when they're asleep! Some vet surgeries offer a discount for chipping and time of neuter.

You have to sign a form with all your pet's detail and your contact details on it and this is sent of to the microchip registration place. If your cat is ever lost and ends up at a vets, breeders, shelter or even the police they will scan it and ring the microchip company with the barcode number, which will identify the cat and give all your contact details so you can be reunited.

It is basically like getting a shot. They inject the microchip underneath the cats skin, between the shoulder blades. One of my cats was microchipped before we brought him home (it was required by the humane society). He experienced absolutely no pain during or after the process.
