i am christian and i believe that the soul either lives(heaven) or dies(hell).what do u think ghosts are then?can a soul remain on earth?why?

The answer is purgatory. Purgatory is a place for cleansing if not fully ready to go into heaven.

It is possible for the spirits of people to be *temporarily* consigned to remain at the area or point of their death, when they have suffered a premature or violent death that for one reason or another was "before their proper time".
Have you ever seen the movie "Ghost" starring Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore? That movie actually shows/describes this principle quite well. The person or persons involved eventually go to heaven or hell, they do not escape that, but sometimes, for varying reasons, it's not immediate.
I am a Christian, but to a limited extent I do believe that ghosts are possible, but probably not to the extent that some do. Some people see ghosts everywhere - I do not - I think they are more of exceptions than the rule.....

Perhaps these ghost are angles and deamons...I believe in the soul.It leaves the body after the body dies.I am not sure if it goes to a waiting place till the lord returns or wonders the earth.

Honestly, when it comes down to it...one really does NOT know.
But here's my take on it...
I believe they are Demons deceiving us to think they are Ghost of loved ones passed on or even of someone you don't know....
The enemy has come to kill, steal and destroy...and I believe the enemy will do whatever it takes to take our mind off the Lord.
Talking to the dead is forbidden by God, and when we see Aunt Lola's Ghost around the house, what are you gonna do...talk to the dead...
I myself have seen what are known as Shadow People. Another reason why I believe they're demons is because I was attacked by this thing...this Shadow...and it was the full shadow of a Man.
My Opinion stands the same with Aliens...I believe they're demons too.

Catholics believe in purgatory. Ghosts are supposedly spirits/souls that are stuck repeating their last moments on earth b/c their death was highly emotional or unexpected.

I believe that God allows demons to at times take forms. Thats the same thing I think with the ouija boards. The power from them is coming from evil spirits.

no, a soul can't stay on earth unless a person never dies. the Bible says Heaven or Hell. 'ghosts' are often figments of your imagination, jumping to conclusions when something glimpses in your eye, halucinations, occultic results or demons which God has allowed you to see and then you mistake it.
you're still technically a Christian if you believe in them, but are sadly misinformed
