what dos the future hold for the u.s. military..?

The air force is going to get smaller with maybe 5,000 aircraft including helicopters.

The navy is probably going to move to universal type ships especially since they can buy V/STOL JSF aircraft. The new ships could be made into a infantry/supply transport ship, mini aircraft carriers or multi missile launcher ships. This would save money as there would be just four or five different craft including subs. The navy is already looking at a destroyer sized multiplatform type ship.

The Marines may increase by 100,000 men while the army increases by 200,000 men. The reserves idea might be eliminated to get those kinds of numbers. I think there will be fewer tanks in the U.S. military and more strykers, up armored Humvee and a new type of armored supply truck. Tanks are used mostly to destroy other tanks, and not to patrol small city streets. There are just fewer enemy tanks out there. They might change uniforms again for a new camouflage and move to the M16A4.

Republicans retake power,the military will be strengthened and modernized,better pay and equipment.
