What does it prove? Why do Christians seem so proud and glad about it? Don't you want it to stop?

To be persecuted for Christ righteousness is actually a promise straight from Jesus. He said that they persecuted Him & the Prophets, so also will persecute those born of God, made the righteousness of Christ.

Jesus said that when others persecute us for Christ Righteousness sake, be really happy. Because great is our reward. Because they also persecuted the Lords Prophets...

It just grieves my heart when people are subject to torture, death or physical abuse because they love Jesus. So, I know this is happening right now, so I pray for the persecuted Church. My prayer is these persecuted Christians will not suffer torture & released from any bonds that people have bound them with. It shouldn't happen to this degree. So, please agree with me in prayer for their release from the prisons & while they are there, protected from torture, etc... Also, that lawlessness will be revealed for what it is. The international humanitary laws say people cannot be imprisoned, tortured or killed for their faith.

Ever enlist in the Marine Corps while being a virgin who doesn't cuss? or Have you ever told a friend what the right thing to do is and he never talks to you again because you mentioned the G-- word? Americans can claim be be believers all they want but why are abortions on the rise? Why is the porn industry booming? I can claim all I want that I was born in Texas and you would have no idea that I was born in California. That said, do I think that Christians are "persecuted" here in the US? No, a piece of paper says we have freedom of speech and religion so life isn't all that bad. But don't pretend that living a Christian life here in the USA is easy. PS: Get you own ideas and stop copying what your teachers are telling, if they knew all of the right answers they would be running the country not teaching a bunch of kids fresh out of puberty.

I find it funny how some non-Christians like Tharien, McSquishy, and Me, Myself and I think they can answer for Christians and then come up with the exact opposite response that Christians come up with.

But as for your question, I'm not glad about any pain or suffering, especially when it's done to punish people for their religious (or anti-religious) views. However, Jesus predicted that it would happen to Christians, so I'm not too surprised by it either.

Why would we be glad about it? Who said we were proud? One person doesn't represent all Chrisitans. And I think that anyone being persecuted for their beliefs is a real shame, and it means that the person doing it is ignorant and insecure about their belief. So No, I am not glad.

According to my bible dictionary the meaning of the word persecution is - the hatred and affliction that follows the witness and holy life of God's people in a hostile world. I'm a Christian and i don't think persecution is good. in fact some things people have done to Christians are horrible, but for a Christian to stay true to God by not denying God even in the face of death is awesome! Matthew 5:10 says Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. According to my bible dictionary righteousness means- holy and upright living in accordance with God's standard. The word "righteousness" comes from a root word that means "straightness." It refers to a state that conforms to an authoritative standard. Righteousness is a moral concept. God's character is the definition and source of all righteousness. Therefore, the righteousness of human beings is defined in terms of God's. So even if a Christian is persecuted and dies for it they go and live with God in heaven. What could be better than living with God in heaven forever? I would encourage you to read Jesus Freaks by dc Talk. It's about Christians who were persecuted for their faith. Their true stories check it out.

Of course not. Personally, I hate to see any being persecuted for their beliefs.

In The Bible, Jesus said that those who followed him would suffer in his name. I think that being able to claim persecution makes *some* Christians feel righteous and justified. On one hand, the majority of Christians fight to have organized prayer and "creation science" taught in public schools, yet it gives them a better case when it doesn't happen -- a "See, I told you so! Jesus was right! The Bible was right" situation.

I don't view it that way. I don't have the need to justify my faith to the world. Why should I have to prove to you I'm right? Why should you have to prove to me that you're right? Why can't we all worship as we please without having to convince everyone else that we're "correct"? I certainly don't want someone else to have to die to a make a point for me.

Yes,it is wrong...but the church grows in times of persecution...I do not embrace the idea like an old aquaintence of mine did,Pastor Richard Wurmbrand, who authored among many others, the book "Tortured for Christ"....after reading it,you will understand the underground, persecuted church in a different light.

I'm not glad that fellow Christians are being persecuted anywhere but Jesus gave us many signs of things that would happen before He comes back. One of them is Christian persecution which will escalate. He told us, when we see these things to lift up our heads, He is coming soon. Hallelujah.

I'm not glad, but the Bible does say to be happy when it happens to you.

As rude as this will sound, I think that persecution makes them feel justified in their beleifs.

Ignoring that every religion has been persecuted in some way, they say that only they are persecuted.
