I saw on a Fig Newton wrapper just now that it is "Made with 100% More Real Fruit". I suppose that the fruit was LESS real before, and now they have increased its "realness" by a quantifiable amount? Is this practical metaphysics? Was the fruit partially in another dimension before, and was therefore less real? So that's what happened to those calories!
OK, this not really a spiritual question, so lets make it one by approaching this from a spiritual standpoint, such as, if the fruit is real, but I don't believe in in, will Jesus still love me after I become fat?
Be creative. I'm so bored that I'm reading candy wrappers.

Nope, the candy bar is the same size. If I wanted to be serious, I would have to say that it is either bad grammer, or they changed the ratio of fruit to cardboard filler. But I wasn't trying to be serious.
Kudos to the guy who said that Jesus still loves me.

Wow, I never got twenty hits before. I really was just messing around, but I accidentally wound up saying something about how silly the discussion gets here on Y!A sometimes – especially when someone deliberately misinterprets a text to make a point.
Everybody gets a honorary thumbs up for playing!

Jesus loves everyone, even those who dont love him back or even hate him.
As for the fig newtons, perhaps what it means is something like this: lets pretend there used to be 5 grams of real fruit in each cookie. Now in the new cookies there are 10 grams in each. The amount of real fruit, therefore, has doubled, or another way of saying it is "increased by 100%".
Funny question, by the way. Thanks for the smile, I needed that :D

It's more a question of mathematics. So if the proportion of "real" fruit in the Newton was say 25% before, and they added 100% more "real" fruit to the Newton, they have doubled the "realness" of the fruit value. That would be much more impressive if the original amount of fruit was say 50% or 49%...but it doesn't look as good if the "realness" was around 5 or 10%. That would bring the "real" fruit content to 10 or 20%. And that's probably more likely anyhow.
But my question is what constitutes "real" fruit? Are they also using "fake" fruit? And why isn't the fakeness of the fruit measured on the wrapper of the cookie?
This sounds like the Rosie O'Donnell of cookies...you know, just in it for ratings!

Jesus loves all fruit believers. Now had you chosen to love vegetables or plants, Jesus would not love you.
Because you believe that there is a possibility that the fruit is real, the pulp of his love would inherently reach out to you and draw you in towards the core from your limited view outside the skin.
I believe that the Betty Crocker Cookbook speaks very clearly about this in Chapter 1 Line 2: "And if it is not a fruit, there go unto your blasphemy of veggies and non-fruit"
Fruit has seeds, from which may be planted more seeds of corruption and deceit.
Vegetables have no seed, therefore no room for growth. One must take a vegetable for what it is, and not parablize or misinterpret its true meaning. A faith based on vegetables is a false faith.
Hope that helps. Holla.

I'm guessing that Jesus will still love you after you become fat...
But... I think Fig Newton only used like flavoring and preservatives before and now they actually grind the fruit up into liquid themselves...
Just a though...

Or could this be proof that the literacy rate is dropping drastically. How about the packages that now say "reclosable" instead of "resealable". It was sealed, not simply closed, before I bought and opened it you know, other than a piece of Wrigley's chewing gum anyway. Is there such a low mentality now that people can't comprehend what "resealable" means? Reclosable isn't even a REAL word!
I'm sorry, my spiritualist left for the day. ;-)

Maybe it just means that there is more of middle-eastern land-grown figs in each newton and less sugar and artificially lab-engineered and grown figs. If thats the case, maybe there won't even be a philosophical or spiritual need for redemption in that there is less stuff to make you fat in the first place (thus, no sin of gluttony). Also, there won't be an issue with Man creating something out of nothing (the lab-grown figs), thus placing himself up on a pedastal, trying to be equal with God.
Hmmmm........ Yeah...... Maybe that's it.......

Jesus's love is unconditional. I have a question for you: If you're eating Fig Newton cookies, will you be less fat than eating 100% More Real Oreos?

Let's say that the original recipe called for 3g of real fruit. The new recipe has 6g of real fruit. That's a 100% increase.
