When we are asked to "know God" is that supposed to be in the Biblical (The King James or Authorised Version) sense?

No.....
It means to know Him personally...through the Lord Jesus Christ
To have a personal relationship with our Creator & Savior.
And He has revealed Himself through the creation, through His Word....and of course...through Christ

the ONLY way to know God, is to accomplish this, in YourLife:
Create a Private, Personal, Direct, Divine Relationship with Our Creator and save your Soul from religion's and atheist's beliefs.
Once You have Created Your Relationship, You will know God, the Universe and Yourself.

when a child knows his / her parents, what does that mean? that trust loyalty love and spiritual unity exist between them. to know a person and who they are, that is what it means.
