Unless you know EVERYTHING you don't have much of a choice but to listen to the opinions of others - hopefully those who do have expertise in a certain area. Nothing wrong with that.
Where it becomes wrong is when you take ANY opinion without first discerning the validity and morality of the opinion. To take someones word for something without first asking yourself why is a grave injustice to yourself and others.
We all derive our opinions based on others - but what you do with those opinions is what makes all the difference.

shveta,i must say i am impressed by Ur question. The reason is,many people do this but they never realise but it's really great that u have realised it.
I would like to give u a more common example, all the five fingers of our hands r not the same.Imagine if it was u can do nothing.
So r the people and their opinions. So i would say that combine all the opinions but the main thing is this combination should have Ur opinion too.select the best.
so 'deriving' is not a bad thing.but following them blindly B'cos it was from a famous person or from a person u love is a bad thing.

What really matters is on whose opinions are your opinions baseded but still i believe that you should weigh the pros & cons of their opinions. If u dont, it either means that u r very bad at taking decisions or are low on self confidence either way it is not a good sign.

Maybe you're still learning! But at some point you will think for yourself. Perhaps a question to ask yourself is "Why?"
Do you have a hard time trusting your own judgement? Brought up in a home where criticism was harsh and often?
Only you can tell.

One person gives his opinion. The other gives contrary opinion. Third person might give you another of his opinion. Opinions are based on one's mentality developed on the basis of how he/she is brought up socially, culturally, circumstances and many other expiriences of his own. You will find varied and contradictory opinions. In such cases you must apply your own mind. Nothing should be taken at its face value. One must train own mind.
Be open.

It is useful to get input from others. The more varied sources you listen to, the wider knowledge you'd be able to gleen from them.
However, it is ultimately up to you to form your own worldview. You should eventually start to form your own opinions once you have enough information to do so.

It's good to evaluate other's perspectives on issues if they are honest opinions but the final call has to be yours as there's no other choice...Think about it
