From watching tv and reading magazines it seems like EVERYBODY has or had a bf or gf in HS. Is there some people that started dating after HS? Is that okay to start dating after HS?

Don't believe everything you see and read all that stuff is mostly made up.Sweetie I didn't have a boyfriend in high school. I started dating guys in college. I think not having a boyfriend in high school keep me from getting into trouble. I am glad that I didn't date until after. I think when you get around 18 your mind set is different and you kind of know what you want out of life. To many high schoolers are worried about having sex these days and that is why I think it is best to wait to start dating. I was 19 when I had my first serious relationship. I am 22 now and I have dated enough to truly know what I want in a boy friend.Pray and ask God to send you the man he wants you to have and he will. I just found mine a year ago and we have been so very happy.Don't just settle for second best. When I was about 17 I made a check list of things that I wanted in a husband every time I dated a new guy I would get my check list out and see how many things he had on there that I wanted.Remember when you do start dating don't look at the looks look at the heart. If you learn that you will find your true love. I hope I was of some help.

Everyone doesnt have a bf or gf in hs and thats perfectly fine. Alot of people dont mature or know what they want until they are out of school. On tv if you notice alot of the ppl playing hs students are grown been out of school for years. lol. Its just what they precieve hs life to be like. Its not what hs is all about. Wait if you want to thats fine its actually smarter.

You have to remember that tv and magazines aren't an accurate representation to real life, especially on the subject of romance. I personally was asked out twice so far in highschool, but I turned both of them down. Not because they weren't what I was looking for, but because I felt that a relationship wasn't a priority of mine at that time, and I didn't want it to be a priority. There's nothing wrong with not dating until afterwards. From what I hear, after that there's a lot less pettiness so it's actually better. My advice is to work on yourself as a person before you have the burden of working on a relationship. If you have both feet on the ground before you get into a relationship, that relationship has a much better chance at success.

The only everybody who does is on tv.

From the CDC, and todays cultural norms, 60% of males, and 20% of girls graduate high school without having dated.

Most 19 year olds look back at 14, 15, and 16, and think they were being stupid, and they try to forget they were ever that age.
Dont take the opinions of the 14, 15, and 16 year olds without the context of the life experience they get the first year outside school that makes them for the rest of their life, look with contempt on their former ideas.

Your goal in high school is to graduate, and survive with minimal personal trauma. Dont date until after you are 22 with a degree. For the investment of 4 years of college into a good degree, you can provide for a rich healthy lifestyle from which to explore dating, and marriage for the following 60 years. Wait till the insanity of puberty is over before making decisions which you can never for the rest of your life unmake. Patience, it truly is a virtue.

I would say that it is better to wait so that you can get your life on track and know what you want out of life. And without a bf or gf you can focus more on what is important for you and not be distracted from school or work.

I had a girlfriend in the last part of high school, like Junior and Senior year. I think many people do date in high school, but it's certainly not unusual not to, and it's ok to start dating later.

Yes it is ok to date after high schoo. There iare no rules or laws that says everyone must date in HS. That is completely up to you. Though some peeps may tell you having a bf or gf is a trend, it isn't. I mean, it is nice to share Valentines Day with someone, or whatever. But believe me, there is nuttin wrong with not gettin serious til after graduation. I had lots of different bf's in school. And all it got me was failing my Freshman yr!! Of course I made it up and did graduate, but at a cost of one yr. later. Which Idont regret them, but ya know. It is up 2 you. :)

NO!! Not "everyone" has a bf or gf in highschool. I have friends that didn't have their first bf or gf until college. It is perfectly ok to start dating till after highschool.

my first relationship started in the last 2 weeks of hs. generally, you can't take what you see on tv/ in magazines seriously.
