Agreed, UFC and Pride to take up alot of the questions here, Are there still questions regarding traditional MA, sure and some have made all of us scratch our heads from time to time.

Of course there are some great questions and answers that have nothing to do with MMA.

However, Mixed Martial Arts is where all of the attention is going right now. This martial arts category is listed under Sports, and MMA is a professional sport.

I really enjoy the UFC and Pride because I grew up doing the same thing. I do agree that it isn't as interesting to me to read about people trashing another artist, which should never be done, ever. These are not martial artists though. It is obvious that they are fans and role players. This behavior is in direct contrast to the philosophy of every martial art I have even heard of. Take a look at the MMA forums on Sherdog or other website and you will see it can get much worse. This is the entertainment market though so I hope you will keep an open mind about MMA and know that there are some of the best martial artists in the world competing in the sport. There are also some bad apples which is in harmony with the Tao of everything.

I would suggest to just ignore what your don't like. For example the daily questions about whether Bruce Lee could beat up King Kong, Godzilla, or Superman. This is just a bit of humor.

All, and here is why. Any art form from painting, to ballet, to martial arts takes practice. The more you practice, the better you get. The self-discipline part comes in when you practice even when you don't want to. There are so many distractions like TV, X-box, even going out with friends. Over time your practice pays off. Any type of physical exercise will have a relaxing effect on the body and mind. During times of physical exertion, the body release endorphins. This is why you feel refreshed and energized after working out. Because of the high level of focus and concentration one uses while training, it is hard to think about all of your other problems. Many a bad day I have thought, "If I can just get through work, class will make me feel better!"

Yup cry me a river. Any martial arts questions asked should be answered by their almighty sensei not people on the internet. How do I do this Kata? My reverse punch dosen't work, why? Were do I place my foot on move 8 of this or that kata? This site is for people who what to "chat" about or put down others arts. Tradition sucks and is the cause of all the heartache in the world of martial arts. If we rid ourselves of the rigidness of conforming to tradition.

here here. Martial arts isn't about sports and entertainment anyways. Stop posting that stuff up peoples. Please

The good ones get snowed over by those ufc, pride fight, etc. questions.

I'd honestly rather have those all replaced by less annoying:which martial arts should I take question

ufc, mma and pride ARE martial arts.

they are the premier forums which people can realistically (as real as you can get while still adressing some concerns for safety), fight against other styles and match up yours vs. others.

However if its the fighter vs. fighter topics you are talking about, that is a differnt issue.

There are technique based questions, mostly opinions of styles and training methods. Just look for them.

EDIT: and I would rather see 1000 questions about chuck lidell by people who actually watch him fight and analyze actual fight footage over 1 question about "bruce lee is the rul3z" by someone who obviously never even saw the limited sparring videos of him and has no real clue what they are talking about (ie: a nut-hugging fanboy).

I also try to answer Martial Arts questions & avoid the UFC/Pride junk. True Martial Artists do not deliberately injure others for fame & fortune.

Very well - here is a question for you.

What is it in the martial arts that allows the masters to seemingly "gaze above the heads of men"?

In answer to the question above:
It's the authority to make the students bow lower than their teachers that makes the masters gaze over their heads. Either that or the master designed and built his dojo with a platform that makes him sit higher than his students heads.
