Thanks for all the suggestions, I am choosing to write a card because she isnt comfortable talking about it yet, she just found out.. so I thought a card would be better.

I am a 14 year survivor of breast cancer, my daughter gave me this when I found out that I had cancer it has always helped me.
WHAT CANCER CANNOT DO
Caner is so limited...
It cannot cripple Love
It cannot shatter Hope
It cannot corrode Faith
It cannot destroy Peace
It cannot kill Friendship
It cannot suppress Memories
It cannot silence Courage
It cannot invade the Soul
It cannot steal eternal Life
It cannot conquer the Spirit.
It's on my fridge to this day, it was very encouraging.
Remember without a test you won't have a testimony

hello birdie, i actually would write a poem : here is an example:
THE POSITIVE SIDE OF LIFE:
Living on Earth is expensive,
but it does include a free trip
around the sun every year.
How long a minute is
depends on what side of the
bathroom door you're on.
Birthdays are good for you;
the more you have,
the longer you live.
Happiness comes through doors you
didn't even know you left open.
Ever notice that the people who are late
are often much jollier
than the people who have to wait for them?
Most of us go to our grave
with our music still inside of us.
If Wal-Mart is lowering prices every day,
how come nothing is free yet?
You may be only one person in the world,
but you may also be the world to one person.
Some mistakes are too much fun
to only make once.
Don't cry because it's over;
smile because it happened.
We could learn a lot from crayons:
some are sharp, some are pretty,
some are dull, some have weird names,
and all are different colors....but
they all exist very nicely in the same box.
A truly happy person is one who
can enjoy the scenery on a detour.
Have an awesome day, and
know that someone
who thinks you're great
has thought about you today!..
"And that person was me.".....
(i hope you come close to your friend, as i know how hard it is )

Well, I'm not sure your friend's sense of humor, but when my coworker had breast cancer, I sent her a simple funny get well soon card and wrote in it something along the lines of
"Cancer freaking sucks, doesn't it? Bt you know what? I know that you're strong, and strong people don't just sit back and let cancer kick their asses. Instead, they fight it. And I'll be here to fight it right alongside you. You just let me know what you need. A shoulder to cry on? Consider my shirt a Kleenex. Someone to take a walk with and not say anything? Let's go. You just let me know. Because I have faith in you and your strength that you can beat this thing!"

Why send a long time friend a card?? Right now she is going to want to have people that are encouraging and needs to know that she is not alone, Go take her to lunch, ice cream, alcohol.. If you really feel the need to send a card just make sure that it is not depressing. Thinking of you, Knowing your strenght and stubbornness, I am sure that things will be just fine, I'll be here for you if you need!!!

i have breast cancer that turned to bone cancer after all the treatments. i think the best thing you could put is that you are there for her anytime....ever one quit having anything to do with me .. i think they are scared that the might catch it. just let her no you are her friend it means a lot...and try to call her from time to time......and dont act scared for her keep that to yourself.

just say that you are thinking of her or that she is in your prayers. if you wish to offer your help with anything, tell her that too.
