I always have the black ones on hand, from bulkfoods.com. At the kitchen shop I buy the white, pink, and green ones. Whiz them all in a coffee grinder and you've got great pepper for anything!

Black or White? The black pepper corn has a sharper bite to it and the white tends to be a bit milder. Freshness is important.

If you are refering to Black Peppercorns, Tellicherry from India's Malbar coast is a pretty good and can be found with minimal effort. The restaraunt I work at they purchase Sarawak peppercorns from Indonesia which are pretty expensive and a little more difficult to find.
