Well I don't know of any "bands" off the top of my head, but I really like Matthew West, a Christian singer-songwriter. His musical style is somewhat similar to John Mayer or Jason Mraz. Also, Kristin Chenoweth, a Broadway actress who is Christian, released a CD of her favorite gospel songs. Then of course there is liturgical music by church choirs. I recommend Crossroads of Praise or any other recording by The Notre Dame Folk Choir. And I almost forgot to mention Paul Schwartz, who makes New Age-style recordings of sacred texts.

Yeah! Third Day is HUGE, Casting Crowns, Todd Agnew, Jeremy Camp, if you like the softer side, Phillips Craig and Dean, Jars of Clay are pretty mellow. John Waller, 33 Miles is kind of Country-ish. You can go online at klove.com and listen online and learn more.

Killswitch Engage, He is Legend, Underoath, As I Lay Dying, Zao, Norma Jean, The Chariot, Glass Casket, August Burns Red---these are all in the "heavy" realm.

More moderate stuff would be: mewithoutYou,(these guys are the BESTEST!) David Crowder Band, Emery... as you can tell I like heavy stuff.
