For example, if I eat something with a high amount of saturated fat, does it affect the cholesterol reading the next day? Will it affect readings for a whole week? I want an idea of how quickly changes in diet are reflected in cholesterol readings.

You are generally NOT going to see instant results. Your primary care provider will generally recheck your levels after 90 days. Since most people don't have daily cholesterol checks its hard to determine if changes occur that fast.

Each persons body will react differently than another. Usually foods that effect cholesterol readings will do so until they are utilized or passed by the body. Most of the time it is a good rule of thumb to say that supplements or foods that may help cholesterol will take a good 2 weeks to see any results. Some people longer, some less, but generally speaking. Now in 2 weeks I wouldn't expect a miracle, but you should see some change. Like weight, depending on your diet, cholesterol levels flucuate daily. You should only check these levels periodically and not daily or weekly. Doing so will only give you a flase reading which could be good or bad.

Everyone's system is different. The doctor's office checks mine ever 90 days and in that period it can change a couple of points or it can shoot up drastically. It depends on how much exercise you get, if you are on medication for it, and what you eat or don't eat. As far as how fast it fat gets into your system it takes about 30 to 40 minutes to hit your bloodstream, but can take months to come out. My cholesterol stays pretty much the same all the time unless I don't take or forget my medicine on a regular bases and then it will go up a few points between blood work-ups. If you will do a google search on "High Cholesterol" it will bring up some sites that can give you some closer figures, but if you have high cholesterol my suggestion is to get out and walk at least 30 minutes a day or even on a treadmill, but if you have heart problems check with your doctor first.

cholesterol readings do not change quickly, but change in them is lasting. So if you eat high fat now, it will be reflected three to six MONTHS later. This is why consistency in controlling fat content is so important.

D.O.B. 10/11/1971 ~~ not too sure of the time, think it was 7 something but not sure if it was AM or PM. I would love for you to do a reading on me when you have time. My life has had many changes in it recently and I would love to know what's going and and what's ahead... If you are not able to read it tomorrow, could you possibly send it to me on my email when you get a chance. I would appreciate it a lot. Thanks so much!!!!

Well, in his movie "Super Size Me" it only took Morgan Spurlock one month. That month however was extreme, since he ate only McDonald's. It would probably depend on how often and to what extent your diet changes. One meal is not going to make a difference at all, but many meals over the course of one month would probably be all it takes.
