Because the Levitical Law required both parties to be stoned. If she was "caught in the act," where was the man with whom she committed adultery?
"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" just reminds us that the ability to judge is reserved for the righteous, and God alone is righteous. Jesus exposed the sins of the Pharisees by writing in the sand, perhaps the names of their sins, or THEIR past sexual partners(!)

John 7:53–8:11 are spurious. These 12 verses have obviously been added to the original text of John’s Gospel. They are not found in the Sinaitic Manuscript or the Vatican Manuscript No. 1209, though they do appear in the sixth-century Codex Bezae and later Greek manuscripts. They are omitted, however, by most of the early versions. It is evident that they are not part of John’s Gospel. One group of Greek manuscripts places this passage at the end of John’s Gospel; another group puts it after Luke 21:38, supporting the conclusion that it is a spurious and uninspired text.
So the account of Jesus and the adultrous woman may never have taken place.

Because he was establishing the New Testament or new covenant: Grace, unmerited favor. Forgiveness.
Now that part of John may have been added to the Bible at a later time. The most ancient manuscripts do not include that part of the story in the Bible. Just to let you know.
But I think that it would be just like him to do that. He was so forgiving.
Romans 4
7 "Blessed are they
whose transgressions are forgiven,
whose sins are covered.
8 Blessed is the man
whose sin the Lord will never count against him."

JOHN 8:4 and said to Jesus,"Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 in the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?'' 6They are using this question as a trap,in order to have basis of accusing him. 7When they kept on questioning him,he straightened up and said to them,If anyone of you is without sin,let him be the first to throw a stone at her." 9At this, who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10Jesus straightened up and ask her,"Woman where are they?Has no one condemed you?'' 11"No one, sir,"she said. Then neither do i condemned you,"Jesus declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin." ___________"Jesus said this to a woman caught in adultery Jesus did not condemn her but advice her to leave her life of sin, that' means she has to change her old way and renew a holy life. __________" but to a false church leads by a false pastor or minister, that's a different case why?because if these false ministers and pastor lead the soul of man,and being get by the wicked''you cant get it back anymore,if the devil gets them''and its the fault of these false Pastors and Ministers.

John 8
1 but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
2 At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. 3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?" 6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.
But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her." 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.
9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, "Woman, [a] where are they? Has no one condemned you?"
11 "No one, sir," she said.
"Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin."
Jesus came to forgive sins
John 3
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 All those who do evil hate the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But those who live by the truth come into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

Jesus' whole mission was to introduce God's will for His church, and to die for us - to enable us to be forgiven of our sins. Jesus' forgiveness of this woman was in large part to exemplify His ability to pardon sins, just as He can erase our sins today. Also, the Pharisees were quick to point out the sins of others, and to 'judge harshly". In showing compassion, Jesus also demonstrated how compassion should be shown toward others.

"For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." --- John 3:17.

Dont need a scripture. Jesus is God, God is forgiving, God can do anything God wants to do. Questioning God for being forgiving is rather inept.

Its the whole "mercy of God" thing going on here. She was truely repentant, or so Jesus determined, and told her to "go, and sin no more." And it goes along with the whole, "You're not perfect, and its not your place to judge, its mine" thing going on through the entire book. Now, go do your own religous assignments for yourself.

Because He is the Author of Salvation. He can forgive and He can save us. He wants us to know that even when we mess up, He can make it right.
