My boss has just had her first little girl, after two boys. We were wondering - what do most people say for a little girl's private parts? Vagina seems like a big word for a little girl and everything else seems so slang or vulgar. Any ideas?

Well, when my daughter was born, my son was 3, during her first diaper change, he looked at me with complete surprise, and said, "Mom, she doesn't have a pooh!" (that's what he called his) I was caught off guard and the first thing that came out of my mouth was, "No baby, she's a little girl, and little girl's have "flowers". He seemed happy with my answer, so maybe that would work for you.

I despise cutsey names for physique components while there are completely solid names that become attentive to them ok. I, in my view, could experience ridiculous calling my vagina a "tutu"?!?! might I propose which you GET comfortable employing the right words? via calling the physique components lovable little names, you're telling your youthful daughter that those physique components are some thing to be embarrassed approximately. you do not have lovable names for her palms, ft, knees, ears, nostril, and so on. Do her a want, now, and contact a vagina a vagina, a penis a penis, a breast a breast, and keep a large type of confusion down the line.

Use the proper terminology. Making up silly words implies that you're not mature enough to discuss matters factually. When she gets older, she'll need someone mature she can discuss things with. Vulva is another word that is also correct. When little kids say it it sounds like vava which isn't so vulgar sounding.

My Friend and her daughter call it a Nani.... My 3 year old son calls girl parts a Magina..... Real terms are always good. But Nani doesnt sounds vulgar or discusting for a little girl to say.

Our daughter is only 5 months old. But, we have a 7 yr old boy and a 5 yr old boy. We call it her Hoo ha. I think it's a cute name for it. That way they know it's different from their equipment and she's too young to care. When she gets older, we'll see what we will call it. When she is old enough and asks, I will tell her what the real term is.

we always taught our daughters the correct terminology, they call their vagina a vagina. My youngest has also explored her vagina and much to the shock of her grandparents she knows that she has a clitoris, not what its purpose is though. She even knows that boys have penis'. We told her it was a clitoris when she found it and proclaimed it her "penis."

I am glad we did because when we found ourselves dealing with an abusive situation in her daycare she was able to clearly tell us what was happening to her, and considering we have never made her body parts seem dirty or bad she was able to come to us immediately, the day it happened so we were able to nip it in the bud. Her doctor was impressed that my 3 yr old was able to express herself as appropriately as she did considering her age and the circumstances.

I suggest you use the proper name for it. What if you gave it a weird name like calling it her "bird" for example, and someday she was abused and was trying to describe to an adult (like a teacher) that someone touched her bird and they didn't understand that she was being molested? Vagina isn't really that big of a word.

I like to call it our "princess" and then when she's older (7-9)then you can use the word vagina if it comes up in question. I wouldn't be opposed to telling her that it's a "vagina" and let her know that as a nickname we can call it "princess".

My daughter named it herself, she called it her pookie. I know she had to hear it from somewhere because I found out that is what they call it in the Philippines or something. Now that she is older we call it a vagina.

We refer to my daughters privates as her pee pee. When she gets a little older and able to say it we will teach her the proper name. She not quite 2 and half yet and we are potty training so pee pee works for us.
