I have seen it in multiple answers and I for one am tired of it. I am not trying to force anyone to believe what I believe though I pray they would find the Lord, but they could at least have the common respect to write the correct word. it is CHRISTIANS.
God Bless the USA

I agree, they are trying to take Christ out of everything ex. "xmas, xtians" etc

They do it so that Xians will ask uninformed questions/rants like yours and then they can point out that Xians has been an acceptable abbreviation for over 1000 years and was in fact started by the Xians themselves.

That way the Xians who post the question are shown to be a)petty, and b) completely ignorant about the history of their own faith.

Congratulations, you fell for it :)

You DO realize that the X is the first letter of the greek 'christos', and that Xtian is nothing more offensive than USA instead of "United States of America," right?

Or did you somehow think that Xmas (a term first used by xtians) was a means to remove the 'Christ' from 'Christ'mas?

Do some research before you make yourself look like an idiot again.

I usually try to capitalize the C in Christian because I think it is a proper noun despite my opinion of Christianity. I think atheists use the x as an abbreviation because it is easier to shorten words when possible. Some, however, do use the x as a sign of disrespect. I think it is silly, though I encourage their lack of respect for the cancer upon society known as Christianity.

xians is supposed to be an abbreviation just as xmas is a common abbreviation for Chrismas. I sometimes even see Christians write xmas, so don't stereotype it to athiests. Also, the x may represent the cross.

I hink they associate Christmas as Xmas, and they think thay Christians can be called xians. For some reason, people need to shorten a word that can easily be typed out. I mean really, how hard is it to type five more letters.

Another Xian that is completely ignorant of this own religion. That's not an "X", it's the Greek letter "Chi" which represents "Christ". In ancient Christian art, Christ is often abbreviated as X or XP.

It is shorthand, and a historically acceptable one. You'll find X as an abbreviation for Christ in ancient manuscripts of the Bible and other Christian sources, because it is the first letter of the Greek word Christos.

You are free to be tired of it. They are free to use it. I am tired of people who are tired of one another over trivialities, but you are under no obligation to do anything about that...

I'm a xian and it doesn't offend me at all.
There are too many things in life to worry about or to be offended about. Don't sweat the small stuff.

1. It's shorter.
2. It's historical.
3. It cheeses you off.
4. It eliminates a descriptive title (Christ = Annointed One) of Yeshua bin Josef with which they presumably disagree, and which they do not share.

I'm heathen, not atheist, and I do it to.

I agree---the atheists that write in here seem to have such crazy hate for religion and say all kinds of disrespectful things. I can't help but wonder why they don't mind their own business. Maybe because they don't have a life?
