While I as gone over the Holiday Weekend I stayed at a 5 Star resort which was inundated with hundreds of kids, with parents that brought buckets of toys, strollers for 6 and 7 yr olds to sit in
around the pool.

What I observed was many Fat Kids for one screaming at there parents, if they did not get there way... parents not taking the time to make there kids talk quietly, respect other people around them, letting children eat like little pigs no manners and on Memorial Day not even observing the day...

If Parents are not teaching Kids about GOD, Manners, Respect for other's what are they teaching them??

Ethics dont have to do with any religion. Atheists have usually more manners in life.

Today's parents wants to be their kids educated which can benefit their practical lives.

self-indulgence.

All children are not like that. My husband and I have our granddaughter (she'll be 3 in September) most of the time after we get off work, because her mom works evenings. We also take weekend trips with her and we vacation with her too. She is a VERY well-mannered, respectful little girl, bless her heart! We get compliments on her good behavior ALL of the time! People just adore her every where we go! I teach her about God and Jesus, and she goes to church with us every Sunday (this has been routine since she was about 6 weeks old.) We say bed time prayers, she says "please" and "thank you" - and if you ask her to do something (pick up her toys, put something in the trash, etc) she says "Sure!" She has an ornery streak with an occasional "terrible two" moment once in awhile, but it never lasts more than 30 seconds, she DOES listen to us, she DOES hear the word "No" (and actually ACCEPTS it most of the time with an "ok Nana"), and she pretty much does as she's told. I wouldn't trade her for the world!

You are right! I think it is called values and morals! There are more teachings on narcicism than on how to behave while in public.

I am not sure about the overweight thing but, I sure have noticed that the children seem to be more the "boss" than the parents these days! I am not sure who is raising whom?

For certain, many parents are so wrapped up in careers that the children are getting less and less teaching in principles, based upon Christian beliefs. As a result, we can watch the news and see the results of the absence of Godly teaching in the home.

It is sad but, a reality!!

A lot of parents just don't parent at all. This is part of the selfish ME culture we are stuck in. I'm on my second marriage and second set of kids and I'm doing a much better job this time.
You need to treat kids like young adults. Then they will grow up to be adults. Expect a lot from your kids and treat them with respect when they fall short.

Teaching manners and respect does not require teaching anything about God. A bad parent is a bad parent despite religious beliefs.

God has nothing to do with teaching manners. I learned manners and respect in an agnostic household.

See, I'd blame it on how we don't respect knowledge, study, and effort anymore. But of course, our viewpoints are wildly different at those foundations. Still, I think we agree that in general, people need to be more observant of their children behaviors.

Look at the amount of Sexually Transmiited diseases, teen suicides, teen pregnancies, drug abuse, gangs, abortions etc. the parents are teaching and the world is teaching them things that are not good...

The kids are seeing their parents being couch potatoes, smoking, drugs, sex, porn etc. The kids are reaping what the parents have sown into their lives. May God have mercy on the children!

The number of kids getting raised properly and respectfully is small I would say.

I am teaching my son about it , but that's what I was brought up w/ perhaps these parents don't do it because their parents never taught them about it . all you can do is pray that someone will teach those children about God/Jesus & that those children will be willing to listen & learn.

take care

Probably how their particular belief in their particular version of the Christian god makes them special and more important than others.

Since when did manners or respect for others have anything to do with god?

They are teaching consumerism. The kids are running the homes.
