Yes! You can be a racist and be a Christian. From where I come from, eventually I find out that everyone is racist on something or another. It's whether you act on it or not that determines how racist, or what kind of racist you are.
–noun 1. a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.
2. a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination.
3. hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.
By the second definition, everyone is a racist because everyone discriminates. Especially buisness. Especially Law enforcement. Especially the government! It's built in!

You can call yourself a Christian but the answer is No a true Christian won't be rascist. Qualified with the knowledge the everyone has prejudices regardless of whether we like it or not. There is what I call the 10% rule of groups (I have heard it in various %'s) that 10% are jerks and those are the ones you will remember... an unfortunate truth but the more exposer to other groups and individuals will help you remember the other 90% eventually. (or convince you the 10% is the majority :-( )
There is a good movie out now called Amazing Grace about William Wilberforce. He was a major force in the abolition of slavery in the British empire.

Well, I can sit in my garage all day and call myself a car, but that doesn't make it true.
You are right; we are to walk in love as Jesus did. However, you also need to realize that spiritual maturity doesn't happen with one trip to the altar. If someone is racist, it's most likely because they were raised that way. They will have to spend a LOT of time with God and learn how to CHOOSE to love everyone as Christ did. I was saved when I was little, but I didn't understand how I could ever love people who were mean to me, like Jesus wanted me to. That's because until about 8 years ago, I thought you had to FEEL like loving your enemies. I didn't realize it was a CHOICE we have to make. So yes, to a degree, you can be a Christian and be racist; you just won't have an effective witness. Just because someone is saved doesn't mean there's no more struggle with sin - on the contrary, the struggle is just beginning, because after being saved, we are CONVICTED about the sin in our lives because we want to live holy lives before God!

I would argue that you are correct. Others have argued differently. In fact, Christianity was (historically) often used as a _defense_ of racism--the argument is something like "These 'savages' don't follow the true Lord, and therefore they are inferior. Further, it is our responsibilty (as 'good Christians') to teach them the ways of the Lord. Therefore, we shall exhibit mastery over them (enslavement, politcal/cultural domination). Should they resist, they are acting as instruments of the devil, and those elements must be purged so that the 'good' heathens can be saved from their 'devilish' influences." Now, again, I think this argument is wrong, and I think it mistakes Jesus' attitude towards all people. But religion, like all things, is open to interpretation, and people will use all manner of things to justify the beliefs they already hold.

No you cannot its states in the Holy Word to love they neighbor as you have loved your self and furthermore love your neighbor as God has loved you. That goes for racism, sexism, everything, you cannot, hate someone and call yourself a true Christian, Jesus died for all men not just for black white, chineses, men, women. And you are still not true Christian, if you lie, steal, cheat, covet they neighbors stuff, how many times are people going to stop using the excuse "I am only human," by praying reading and meditating on the Word, you can overcome those temptations of sin, God loves us unconditional, but he will turn a deaf ear to us sooner than later, if we keep playing with his grace and mercy

You can believe in God. (which is what a lot of people consider being a Christian) You can not be a Christian, in the since that you follow Christ's teachings, (which others consider the definition of being a Christian) if you do not love everyone.
In my church, we are taught to love Everyone as we love ourselves.

you can call yourself anything you want, but being a Christian is more than just saying you are. not to say that we are perfect, cause the Lord knows we are not, but we must do our best to live a Christ like life, and I do not believe he would approve of racsim

only placed: you are able to not. I despise racism. I take a glance at to no longer get annoyed with racists although instead racism, like we are standard as to hate sin although love the sinner. in my view, i does no longer have a concern with any immigrant or "unlawful" immigrant (I swear this is no longer cuz i'm Mexican xD) although I take exhilaration on your comments and thoughts closer to the situation. i will't keep in mind the particular verse although I do keep in mind particularly a pair of verses in each and every the classic and new testomony that say to no longer rebuke the alien, although to love and take exhilaration in them. besides, specific it somewhat is with out doubt in direction of the instructions of Jesus to be a racist. I recommend c'mon between the needed superb messages of the Gospel is humility and honoring each and every individual above your self!

There's a difference between being a Christian, and being a good Christian. Good Christians are few and far between. Most are pretty lazy about their faith. I say this as an ex-Christian turned Atheist. I know my stuff, and still find it offensive when "Christians" say things contradictory to their own faith.

No you can't truly call yourself a Christian if you are a racist because as as a Christian you are to love all. Racism is so uncalled for anyway it's ridiculous. I've never understood it I think it's awful.
